Where to Watch

The English dubbed version of “Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells” is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

Anime Series Details

The “Failure Frame” anime is based on the light novel series written by Kaoru Shinozaki and illustrated by KWKM. The anime adaptation is directed by Michio Fukuda at Seven Arcs, with Yasuhiro Nakanishi handling series composition, Kana Hashidate designing the characters, and Tatsuhiko Saiki composing the music.

The anime series initially debuted in Japan in July 2024, with Crunchyroll streaming the subtitled version.

What to Expect from “Failure Frame”

“Failure Frame” is a dark fantasy isekai that subverts typical power fantasy tropes. While the protagonist, Touka, is initially labeled a failure, he discovers unique and potent abilities that set him on a path of vengeance. The series explores themes of betrayal, self-discovery, and the darker aspects of human nature.

Isekai Genre Tropes

The isekai genre, where characters are transported to another world, often features protagonists who quickly become overpowered. “Failure Frame” offers a twist by starting with a character deemed weak.

Dark Fantasy Elements

The anime incorporates dark fantasy elements, exploring mature themes and morally ambiguous characters. Touka’s journey is not simply about becoming strong but also about confronting his inner darkness.

Crunchyroll’s Winter 2025 Dub Slate

“Failure Frame” is part of Crunchyroll’s Winter 2025 English dub slate, which includes other popular anime series.

Other Dubbed Anime

Crunchyroll is also releasing English dubs for other anime series this winter, including the highly anticipated “One Piece Egg Island Arc” (premiering February 11) and “Fate/Strange Fake” (premiered December 31, 2024).

“Dragon Ball Daima”

“Dragon Ball Daima” premiered its first three episodes earlier this year as part of a theatrical event and is also part of the Winter 2025 lineup.

Reception and Popularity

“Failure Frame” has garnered attention for its unique premise and darker tone within the isekai genre. The light novels have been well-received, and the anime adaptation has further expanded the series’ fanbase.
