The anime adaptation of Frontwing’s “Grisaia: Phantom Trigger” visual novel is bolstering its cast with the addition of three seasoned voice actors. As of February 3, 2025, Ami Koshimizu, Ai Kakuma, and Kenji Hamada are joining the series, lending their talents to new characters from the world of Phantom Trigger. The series, which premiered in January, is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

New Recruits Join the Ranks

Starting with the sixth episode, audiences will hear the voices of:

  • Ami Koshimizu as Aoi
  • Ai Kakuma as Kuroe Samejima
  • Kenji Hamada as Enishi Urushihara

These actors, veterans in the anime industry, are reprising their roles from the visual novel, bringing established characters to the animated screen.

“Grisaia: Phantom Trigger”: A Synopsis

“Grisaia: Phantom Trigger” is the latest installment in the “Grisaia” series, a franchise that has explored themes of combat, espionage, and the lives of young women trained for perilous missions. The story is set years after the events of “The Fruit of Grisaia,” with a focus on Mihama Academy. Once a sanctuary for young girls, the academy has been repurposed as a training ground for SORD (Special Organization for Research & Development), an agency dedicated to national defense.

The anime follows an ensemble cast of new characters attending the training academy for SORD, and they each possess unique skills and face dangerous missions.

  • Rena and Maki specialize in firearms
  • Tohka and Gumi excel at sniping
  • Chris handles explosives and data processing
  • Murasaki is a skilled ninja for intelligence operations.

The series follows these girls as they navigate complex cases and life-or-death situations.

Production Details

The “Grisaia: Phantom Trigger” anime boasts a talented team. Kōsuke Murayama is directing the anime, and Bibury Animation Studio, which animated the game’s OVA adaptations, is producing the television anime. Akio Watanabe serves as the character designer and chief animation director, and Hitoshi Fujima, Yūsuke Takeda, and Fuminori Matsumoto are the composers. Frontwing and WOWMAX are producing the anime. From Visual Novel to Anime

“Grisaia: Phantom Trigger” began as a visual novel series by Frontwing. The first TV anime adaptations by Eight Bit were released between 2014 and 2015. The original video animation (OVA) adaptation of “Grisaia: Phantom Trigger” opened in Japan in March 2019, with Frontwing releasing an English dub. “Grisaia: Phantom Trigger the Animation Stargazer” premiered on November 27, 2020. The current anime television series adaptation premiered in January 2025 and is expected to run for 13 episodes.
