The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Yosuke Tokino’s fantasy light novel series, “The Unaware Atelier Master,” has released its first promotional video, revealing additional cast members and offering a deeper look into the series. The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan in April 2025, broadcasting on Tokyo MX, Yomiuri TV, and BS NTV.

New Additions to the Cast

The promotional video introduces two new voice actors to the already stellar cast:

  • Hisako Kanemoto as Mimiko. Kanemoto is well-known for her roles in various anime, including Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury in the “Sailor Moon” franchise.
  • Rie Tanaka as Ophilia. Tanaka has an extensive voice acting career, with notable roles such as Kaniko in “Rail Romanesque”.

These new cast members join the previously announced leads:

  • Mikako Komatsu as Kurt Rockhans, the titular “unaware atelier master”.
  • Asami Seto as Yulishia. Seto is recognized for her role as Nobara Kugisaki in “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
  • Minami Tanaka as Liselotte Homuros.

Production Team

The anime is being directed by Hisashi Ishii (“I’m Quitting Heroing”) at EMT Squared studio. Deko Akao (“You Are Ms. Servant”) is in charge of the series composition, ensuring a cohesive narrative. Miyuki Nakamura (“Mr Love: Queen’s Choice”) is handling the character designs, while Harikemu Wata is composing the music.

Additional staff members have also been announced:

  • Art Director: Suzuna Yamazaki (Studio Fuga)
  • Color Design: Miho Hasegawa (Studio Hiwa)
  • Director of Photography: Tsuyoshi Shimura (T2 Studio)
  • Editing: Yūji Kondō (REAL-T)
  • Sound Production: Studio Mausu
  • Sound Director: Hiroki Nishiyama

Storyline Overview

“The Unaware Atelier Master” follows the story of Kurt Rockhans, a young boy who is dismissed from the Hero’s Party due to his perceived lack of combat abilities. Deemed “useless” because of his low aptitude for weapons, magic, and other combat-related skills, Kurt is forced to find his own way in the world.

However, Kurt possesses exceptional talent in non-combat skills. He excels in cooking, building, mining, crafting magical tools – essentially, every skill unrelated to fighting. His aptitude in these areas is revealed to be SSS-ranked. Despite his incredible abilities, Kurt remains oblivious to his true potential and often saves people, the town, and even the country through his unintentional actions.

Light Novel and Manga

The original light novels are written by Yosuke Tokino and illustrated by Zounoze. AlphaPolis began publishing the series in March 2019. A manga adaptation by Naharu Furukawa is also available on AlphaPolis since December 2019. Alpha Manga publishes the English language version of the manga.

Anime Release

The “Unaware Atelier Master” anime is scheduled to air on Tokyo MX, Yomiuri TV, and BS NTV in Japan, starting in April 2025. It will also be available for streaming on d Anime Store and other services in Japan.

Anime Anticipation

The release of the first promotional video has generated considerable excitement among fans. The trailer offers a glimpse into the series’ animation style, character designs, and overall tone. With a talented cast and experienced production team, “The Unaware Atelier Master” is poised to be a notable addition to the anime landscape in 2025. The series’ blend of fantasy, adventure, and comedy, coupled with its unique premise of an oblivious but overpowered protagonist, is expected to resonate with a wide audience.
