The final season of the hit anime series, Dr. Stone, titled Dr. Stone: Science Future, has announced the addition of Hiroki Yasumoto to its voice cast. Yasumoto will be voicing the character of Brody Dudley, a former U.S. military mechanic, as the series continues its run in January 2025.

Hiroki Yasumoto Takes on the Role of Brody Dudley

The official website for Dr. Stone: Science Future revealed the casting news. Hiroki Yasumoto, a well-known and prolific Japanese voice actor, will be lending his talents to the character of Brody Dudley. Brody is described as a former U.S. military technician possessing extensive knowledge and skills in mechanics, particularly concerning the maintenance of ships and aircraft.

Who is Hiroki Yasumoto?

Hiroki Yasumoto is a highly respected figure in the world of Japanese voice acting. Born on March 16, 1977, Yasumoto has built an impressive career voicing a wide array of characters in anime, video games, and other media. He is affiliated with Sigma Seven, a prominent voice acting agency in Japan.

Some of his most recognizable roles include:

  • Germany in Hetalia: Axis Powers
  • Yasutora Sado (Chad) in Bleach
  • Hozuki in Hozuki’s Coolheadedness
  • Raven in the Guilty Gear series
  • Buffaloman in Kinnikuman
  • Carver in Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End

Yasumoto’s deep and resonant voice has made him a popular choice for strong and imposing characters. His versatility, however, allows him to portray a wide range of personalities, from comedic to serious. Besides voice acting, Yasumoto also works as a narrator for television programs.

Dr. Stone: Science Future – The Final Chapter

Dr. Stone: Science Future is the fourth and final season of the Dr. Stone anime series. The anime is based on the manga of the same name, written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi. The manga ran in Shonen Jump from March 2017 to March 2022, encompassing a total of 27 volumes.

The final season premiered on January 9, 2025, and is planned to be split into three parts (cours).

What is Dr. Stone About?

The story of Dr. Stone begins in modern-day Japan. High school student Taiju Ooki is about to confess his feelings to his classmate Yuzuriha Ogawa when a mysterious green light engulfs the Earth, turning all of humanity into stone.

3,700 years later, in the year 5738, Taiju and his genius scientist friend, Senku Ishigami, awaken from their petrified state. They find themselves in a world devoid of human civilization, with nature having reclaimed the land. Determined to rebuild humanity, Senku uses his scientific knowledge to develop a revival fluid and sets out to “reboot” civilization from scratch.

Senku and Taiju face numerous challenges as they gather allies, overcome enemies, and rediscover the lost technologies of the past. The series blends adventure, comedy, and scientific explanations, making science accessible and engaging for viewers.

The Plot Thickens in Science Future

Dr. Stone: Science Future continues the story as Senku and his Kingdom of Science embark on a journey across the ocean to reach America. Their goal is to acquire corn, a crucial ingredient for producing revival fluid. The season’s early episodes focus on the challenges of navigating the seas and the strategic decisions Senku must make to ensure their success.

The addition of Brody Dudley to the cast suggests that the American continent will hold new allies and challenges for Senku and his friends. Brody’s expertise in mechanics, particularly with ships and aircraft, hints at the potential for exciting new inventions and technological advancements as the Kingdom of Science expands its reach.

Where to Watch Dr. Stone: Science Future

Fans can catch Dr. Stone: Science Future on Crunchyroll, where new episodes are released weekly.

The Legacy of Dr. Stone

Dr. Stone has garnered a dedicated fanbase for its unique blend of science, adventure, and compelling characters. The series has been praised for its positive message, promoting the power of knowledge and collaboration to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. With the final season underway, fans are eagerly anticipating the conclusion of Senku’s quest to rebuild civilization and usher in a new era of scientific progress. The addition of veteran voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto only adds to the excitement, promising a memorable portrayal of the resourceful mechanic, Brody Dudley.
