Episode 7 of Sakamoto Days, titled “Jurassic Dude”, dives into Shin’s mysterious past while presenting a new crisis when Lu is kidnapped. The episode, which premiered on February 22, 2025, sees Shin’s origins at “The Lab” revealed, introducing dangerous new characters and a hostage situation after a case of mistaken identity.

Lu’s Kidnapping & Shin’s Origins

The episode begins with Lu and Shin bickering at the shop, highlighting their sibling-like relationship. However, the lightheartedness is cut short when a group looking for Shin mistakenly abducts Lu, leading to a high-stakes rescue mission. This event triggers the revelation of Shin’s past at “The Lab,” an organization connected to his psychic abilities. The episode unveils that Shin was a subject of experiments in his childhood.

Action-Packed Rescue and Highway Mayhem

Sakamoto and Shin quickly realize Lu is missing and embark on a thrilling chase to rescue her. The pursuit involves a wild motorcycle ride and a series of exploding cars as they confront the kidnappers. Along the way, they face a skilled assassin who uses an invisibility suit, adding another layer of complexity to their mission.

The Lab and Shin’s Childhood

As Shin and Sakamoto track down Lu’s captors, Shin reflects on his childhood in the Lab. Flashbacks reveal that Shin’s experience wasn’t the typical cruel and torturous upbringing often depicted in similar stories. Instead, he remembers the scientists as a kind and supportive family. This revelation offers a refreshing twist on the “experimented-on” trope and adds depth to Shin’s character.

The Order Arrives

The episode concludes with the arrival of Shishiba and Osaragi from The Order at the museum hideout of The Lab. This sets the stage for an exciting confrontation in the next episode, potentially reuniting Sakamoto with members of his former group.

Anime vs. Manga

Episode 7 adapts chapters 19 to 24 from the original manga. One notable change is the omission of Heisuke Mashimo’s conversation with Hana, which is likely to be included in the next episode. For the most part, the anime has closely followed the manga, with minor changes made to accommodate the animation.
