The anime adaptation of Nana Nanana and Parum’s light novel series, Danjo no Yūjō wa Seiritsu Suru? Iya, Shinai!! (Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Hold Up? (No, it Can’t!!)), is set to debut on Tokyo MX and AT-X on April 4, 2025, at 10:30 p.m. JST. The romantic comedy explores the complexities of friendship and potential romance between a boy and a girl.

Broadcast Schedule and Key Visuals

Following its premiere on Tokyo MX and AT-X, the anime will also air on BS Asahi and Kansai TV on April 6, and on TV Miyazaki on April 10. The staff has released the anime’s second key visual, further building anticipation for the series.

Storyline: Eternal Friendship or Budding Romance?

Danjo no Yūjō wa Seiritsu Suru? Iya, Shinai!! centers around Yū Natsume, a flower-loving boy, and Himari Inuzuka, who promised to be friends forever in middle school. Their bond is tested when Yū’s first love reappears, potentially disrupting their “ideal friend” status. The story explores themes of friendship, romance, and the challenges of navigating relationships in high school. Sometimes, Himari teases Yuu, joking about taking responsibility if he can’t find a wife.

The anime features a talented voice cast bringing the main characters to life:

  • Yū Natsume: Voiced by Kikunosuke Toya (known for his role as Denji in Chainsaw Man).

  • Shinji Makishima: Voiced by Kō Bonkobara.
  • Hibari Inuzuka: Voiced by Masaaki Mizunaka.
  • Sakura Natsume: Voiced by Hisako Kanemoto.
