The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Shinichirō Nariie’s popular slice-of-life manga, “See You Tomorrow at the Food Court,” has revealed its main voice cast, exciting fans eagerly awaiting its 2025 premiere. A teaser promotional video has also been released, offering a first glimpse into the anime’s visuals and the character’s voices.

Hiyori Miyazaki and Yoshino Aoyama to Voice Main Characters

The anime’s official website announced that Hiyori Miyazaki, known for her role as Daito Fruit Bat in the Kemono Friends series, will be voicing Wada, while Yoshino Aoyama, acclaimed for her portrayal of Hitori Goto in BOCCHI THE ROCK!, will be playing Yamamoto. The teaser trailer showcases their character voices for the first time, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the adaptation.

Voice Actors Share Their Thoughts

Both Hiyori Miyazaki and Yoshino Aoyama have shared their excitement about their roles and the upcoming anime:

  • Hiyori Miyazaki (Wada): “I have enjoyed playing the role since the audition, and when the role was decided, I was filled with joy, ‘I can be Wada again!’ I had originally enjoyed reading the original manga, so I am very happy to be involved in the wonderful space of this work. I will do my best to express the ordinary but precious time with her best friend Yamamoto and Wada’s twisted but cute charm!”
  • Yoshino Aoyama (Yamamoto): “I’m Yoshino Aoyama, and I am the voice of Yamamoto. The warmth of the ordinary daily life of high school girls who gather at a food court is presented with a great deal of humor by Nariie-sensei. As a reader of this manga, I am very happy to see it being made into an anime, and I never thought I would be able to be a part of it…! Yamamoto is quite flamboyant in appearance, but has a strong axis as a human being.”

What is “See You Tomorrow at the Food Court” About?

“See You Tomorrow at the Food Court” is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Shinichirō Nariie. It follows the daily lives of two high school girls, Wada and Yamamoto, who seemingly have nothing in common but secretly meet at the food court after school every day.

The Plot Unveiled

To their classmates, Wada appears to be a quiet and refined rich girl, while Yamamoto seems like an intimidating lone wolf with her dyed blonde hair and fashionable style. However, their classmates are unaware of their hidden quirks: Wada is addicted to mobile games and has a love-hate relationship with a 2D character, while Yamamoto is fascinated by urban legends and is a dedicated follower of her favorite YouTuber. At the food court, they rant, rave, and learn more about each other, forming an unlikely but precious friendship.

From Webcomic to Anime

The manga originally started as a webcomic on Nariie’s Twitter account in October 2019 before being serialized on Kadokawa Shoten’s Comic Newtype website in March 2020. Yen Press has licensed the manga for English publication, making it accessible to a wider audience.

Production Team

The anime adaptation is being directed by Kazuomi Koga, known for his work on Rent-a-Girlfriend, at studio Atelier Pontdarc. The series composition is being handled by Jukki Hanada, who has worked on series such as Sound! Euphonium and Love Live! School idol project. Kyuta Sakai, known for Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, is the character designer and chief animation director. The music is being composed by Kana Utatane, who has worked on Dead Mount Death Play and Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!, while Jin Aketagawa is the sound director.
