Shizumu Watanabe’s popular manga series, “Dead Account,” is set to receive a TV anime adaptation produced by SynergySP. The announcement was made on the manga’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, bringing excitement to fans of the supernatural action series.

What is “Dead Account” About?

“Dead Account” takes place in a world where ghosts have found a new dwelling place: the internet. The story revolves around Soji Enoshiro, a 15-year-old high school dropout who earns a considerable income as a controversial streamer known as “Aoringo.” His online persona is characterized by violent and provocative content, which he uses to generate reactions and, more importantly, money to cover his younger sister’s medical expenses. In reality, Soji is a kind and devoted older brother with a love for sweets, willing to do anything for his sister’s well-being.

A Modern-Style Exorcism Story

Soji’s life takes an unexpected turn when he is attacked online by a ghost, leading to his spiritual awakening. This event leads to his recruitment by Miden Academy, a specialized school that trains exorcists to combat supernatural entities in the digital realm. “Dead Account” blends action, comedy, drama, and supernatural elements with a school life setting, creating a unique and engaging narrative.

Who is Behind the Anime Adaptation?

The anime adaptation of “Dead Account” is being produced by SynergySP, a Japanese animation studio known for its work on various anime series.

SynergySP Co., Ltd. was established on September 24, 1998, initially named Synergy Japan. The studio originated from staff who split off from Studio Junio. In 2005, SynergySP became affiliated with Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions and later became a subsidiary of Shin-Ei Animation in 2017.

  • “Cross Game” (2009-2010)
