The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Kei Urana’s manga, Gachiakuta, is set to premiere in July 2025 and will be streamed exclusively on Crunchyroll. A new teaser trailer has been released, revealing key cast members and additional staff for the series.
‘Gachiakuta’ Anime Overview
Gachiakuta, a manga series written and illustrated by Kei Urana, has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since February 2022. As of December 2024, 13 volumes have been released in Japan. The anime adaptation is produced by Bones Film, known for My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The anime is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma.
Storyline
The story follows Rudo, a young outcast living in the slums of a floating town where the poor struggle beneath the wealthy, who carelessly discard their garbage into an abyss. Rudo is falsely accused of murder and exiled to the surface with the trash. This area is known as “The Pit,” where humanity’s waste has bred vicious monsters. To seek vengeance and uncover the truth, Rudo must master new powers and join the Cleaners, a group that battles the trash beasts of the Pit.
