Episode 11 of “Medalist,” titled “Dance The Night,” sees Inori and Rioh entering a summer training camp at Lux Higashiyama FSC, where they are confronted with new challenges and interpersonal conflicts. The episode, which aired on March 16, 2025, at 1:30 am JST, delves into the complexities of Inori’s double axel practice, Tsukasa’s attempts to advise Rioh, and the simmering tensions between the characters.

Summer Training Camp Starts

The summer training camp at Lux Higashiyama FSC marks a significant turning point for Inori and Rioh. They are given the chance to learn from other skilled coaches, and they encounter new skating students. Inori sets her sights on successfully landing the double axel, a crucial step toward qualifying for the All-Japan Novice A division and competing against Hikaru.

Inori’s Double Axel Challenge

Inori’s primary focus in this episode is mastering the double axel. Despite being able to land the jump off-ice, she struggles to replicate the feat on the ice. This challenge pushes her to intensify her training. To qualify for the All-Japan Novice A division and compete against Hikaru, she had to pass the level six badge test, which required mastering the double axel. Inori continues practicing the double Axel on ice.

Tsukasa’s Attempt to Mentor Rioh

Tsukasa notices Rioh’s struggles and offers to assist him with his training. However, Rioh, who comes from a prestigious background and initially dismisses Tsukasa due to his lack of experience as a singles competitor, refuses his help. Rioh’s condescending attitude becomes a source of frustration, particularly when he directs harsh words at Tsukasa. During a bathhouse encounter, Rioh questions Tsukasa’s badge level, further highlighting his skepticism about Tsukasa’s coaching abilities.

Rioh’s Insecurities

Rioh realizes that he has hit a wall with his training and fears that he has reached his limit as a skater. When he runs into Tsukasa at the bath, Rioh takes a stab at Tsukasa’s pride by asking him how high of a badge level he received during his solo skating career. Tsukasa is forced to admit he only ever made it to the Prelim level.

Inori’s Reaction to Rioh’s Disrespect

While Inori usually doesn’t take insults to heart, she refuses to stay silent when someone disrespects Tsukasa. Protective of her mentor just as he is of her, she becomes more determined than ever. Fueled by Rioh’s harsh remarks, she vows to surpass him and ultimately reach the same competitive stage as Hikaru.

New Dynamics and Relationships

The episode explores the evolving dynamics between Inori, Tsukasa, and Rioh. Inori and Rioh remain hostile towards each other, with Inori determined to master a double-triple combination before Rioh can. The episode also revisits Mittens and Nacchi, who provide comic relief and assist with Inori’s training.

Tsukasa’s Determination

Rather than giving in, though, this makes Tsukasa more determined to have Rioh accomplish something while he’s studying under him, and he decides to double down on his barrage of positive reinforcement.

Streaming Information

Viewers can stream “Medalist” Episode 11 on Disney+ internationally. The full series is also available on platforms like Hulu in select regions.
