The upcoming “Classic Stars” anime has released a main promotional video showcasing its opening theme, “Singularist,” performed by Yuma Uchida, who also voices the character Beethoven. The anime, set to premiere in April 2025, features young men gifted with the talents of classical composers, promising a unique blend of music and character-driven storytelling.

‘Classic Stars’ Anime Premieres April 2025

The “Classic Stars” anime is scheduled to premiere on April 5, 2025, at 25:00 JST (effectively April 6 at 1:00 AM JST) on Tokyo MX and BS11. Following these initial broadcasts, the series will also air on Hokkaido Broadcasting Co. Ltd. from April 18 and Animax from April 26. For streaming audiences, “Classic Stars” will be available on U-NEXT and Anime Houdai starting April 6, with ABEMA and Amazon Prime Video adding the series to their libraries on April 9.

Production Details and Key Staff

“Classic Stars” is a co-production of UNISON and King Records, with animation handled by Platinum Vision. The series is directed by Hideaki Oba, known for “Love of Kill,” with Shingo Nagai (“Girly Air Force”) overseeing the series composition. Yoko Sato (“I’m in Love with the Villainess”) is responsible for the character designs, adapting them from Motoko Yoshida’s original designs. The music is produced by Noriyasu Agematsu from Elements Garden, with Hitoshi Fujima, Ryota Tomaru, and Yusuke Takeda, also from Elements Garden, composing the score at King Records.

“Singularist”: The Energetic Opening Theme

The main promotional video highlights the opening theme song, “Singularist,” performed by Yuma Uchida. This song sets the tone for the series, promising a blend of classical music elements with a modern idol anime vibe.

Meet the Cast: Main Characters and Dis=Cord

The anime features a talented voice cast, including:

  • Yuma Uchida as Beethoven
  • Kento Ito as Mozart
  • Shun Abe as Chopin
  • Shoya Ishige as Liszt

The series also introduces a rival group, Dis=Cord, featuring:

  • Taku Yashiro as Lost Beethoven
  • Takuya Sato as Lost Vivaldi
  • Ayumu Murase as Lost Schumann
  • Daisuke Namikawa as Ao Miharagi

Dis=Cord: The Antithetical Force

The Dis=Cord characters are presented as a mysterious trio of “lost” talents with their own reasons for singing, seemingly acting as antithetical foils to the main characters.

Story Overview: A Fusion of Classical Music and Idol Culture

“Classic Stars” is set at Gloria Private Academy, a prestigious institution where young talents in music, art, sports, and various entertainment fields gather. Within the academy’s Music Department, select individuals are deemed compatible with the “potential” of great musicians of the past, receiving a “Gift” that allows them to inherit the essence of these legendary artists. Once bestowed with a Gift, the individual is referred to by the name of the composer they now embody.

The “Classic Verse” Project

“Classic Stars” is the first installment in a wider “Classic Verse” project by UNISON, focusing on titles with a common theme of classical music. Plans are also underway for an isekai project where composers are reincarnated into other worlds.

“BEYOND☆CLASSIC” Mini-Album

A character song mini-album, “BEYOND☆CLASSIC,” is set to release on May 21, 2025. The album includes the anime’s ending theme song, also titled “BEYOND☆CLASSIC,” performed by Gran☆MyStar, a group comprised of Yuma Uchida, Kent Ito, Shun Abe, and Shoya Ishige. The album also features four solo songs by Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Liszt.

Reception and Anticipation

The release of the main promotional video and details about the opening theme have generated excitement among anime fans. The unique premise of blending classical music with the idol anime genre, along with the talented cast and production team, has positioned “Classic Stars” as a highly anticipated series for the Spring 2025 season.

Expert Insights

Noriyasu Agematsu, the planner and executive producer of “Classic Stars” from Elements Garden, brings a wealth of experience in music production to the project. His involvement ensures a high-quality musical experience that complements the anime’s storyline and character development. Hideaki Oba’s direction, combined with Shingo Nagai’s series composition, promises a cohesive and engaging narrative that explores the themes of music, talent, and rivalry.
