Get ready, One Piece fans! Crunchyroll is set to stream the 2-episode premiere of the anime’s return, featuring the continuation of the Egghead Arc, along with a special recap on April 5th and 6th. This highly anticipated event will be available to viewers in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Latin America, marking a thrilling moment for fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Luffy’s adventure.

“One Piece” Egghead Arc Resumes Streaming on Crunchyroll

The One Piece anime is making its grand return to Crunchyroll with the continuation of the Egghead Arc, following a brief hiatus. The first new episode, episode 1123, will premiere on April 5th, followed by episode 1124 on April 6th.

Egghead Arc Part 1 Recap Special

In addition to the new episodes, Crunchyroll will also stream an 83-minute Egghead Arc Part-1 Recap Special on April 5th. This special will help refresh viewers’ memories of the events that transpired before the hiatus, ensuring everyone is up to speed as the story progresses.

Simulcast Details and Time Slot Change

Crunchyroll will simultaneously stream the anime as it airs in Japan. The One Piece anime will start airing in Japan on April 6th on Sundays at 11:15 p.m. JST on Fuji TV and its affiliates. This marks a change from its previous time slot, which will now be occupied by the new anime series To Be Hero X. This shift to a later time is intended to coincide with the release of the Weekly Shonen Jump manga chapters.

Where to Watch

The new episodes and recap special will be available on Crunchyroll in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Latin America.

Egghead Arc: What to Expect

The Egghead Arc, also known as the Future Island arc, began in January 2024 and introduces viewers to a futuristic island where the Straw Hats encounter the enigmatic Dr. Vegapunk. This arc is considered one of the most lore-heavy in the entire series, delving into mysteries and plot points that have captivated fans. The Egghead Arc is extremely important for the franchise because it signals the beginning of the end for the story of Luffy.

Story So Far

Here’s a quick recap of what happened before the hiatus:

  • Nami locks Luffy in a cage after he endangers the crew.
  • The crew learns about Cobra’s death and Vivi’s disappearance.
  • Luffy reveals his dream to the crew.
  • The Sunny is attacked by a mechanical shark.
  • The crew arrives on Egghead Island and encounters Dr. Vegapunk.

New Opening and Ending Theme Artists

One Piece has announced the new opening and ending theme artists for Egghead Part 2. GRe4N BOYZ will perform the opening theme, while muque will sing the ending theme.

Anime Hiatus and “Recharge”

The One Piece anime took a break in mid-October to “recharge” before continuing the Egghead Arc in April 2025. During the hiatus, a remastered version of the Fish-Man Island saga, titled One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga, was aired, featuring reshot scenes, retouched art, and other improvements. This abridged version consisted of 21 episodes, compared to the original arc’s 51 episodes.

English Dub Release

For fans who prefer the English dub, new episodes 1109-1122 and three specials became available on March 18th. The English-dubbed episodes for the Egghead arc will debut on February 11, 2025, at 1 p.m. PT on Crunchyroll, providing access to fans in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.

Expert Insight

Eiichiro Oda is the creator of the One Piece franchise. Since the manga series began in 1997, it has exceeded over 510 million copies in print worldwide. The One Piece anime, animated by Toei Animation, first premiered in 1999 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024. The franchise has expanded into other media, with Bandai’s One Piece Card Game and the mobile game One Piece Bounty Rush.

The Final Saga

The Egghead Arc is slated as the first segment of “The Final Saga,” which will bring the story to a close after more than 25 years on air. However, One Piece fans won’t have to get emotional any time soon as Eiichiro Oda has revealed that he won’t wrap up the story any time earlier than 2027, meaning that the anime series could extend as far as 2030.
