Episode 11 of “Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!” titled “Two People and One Furry Friend, Strolling Through Aomori,” focuses on strengthening the bond between Kazuhiro and Marie, while also shedding light on Kazuhiro’s past. The episode was released on March 21, 2025, and it sees them visiting Kazuhiro’s grandfather in Aomori.

Wridra’s Familiar and a Shinkansen Journey

The episode starts with Kazuhiro and Marie waking up next to a black and red cat, which is revealed to be Wridra’s familiar. Wridra uses the cat to experience their trip to Aomori since she couldn’t physically join them. At Tokyo Station, Marie is amazed by the number of people. Kazuhiro holds Marie’s hand as they navigate the crowded station. They board the Shinkansen, sharing bento boxes while allowing Wridra (through the cat) to experience the sights and tastes of their journey.

Unveiling Kazuhiro’s Childhood

Marie falls asleep on the train, prompting Kazuhiro to reflect on his life. He reveals that he lived in Tokyo until fifth grade, after which he moved in with his grandfather. However, his memories of Tokyo are hazy, and he struggles to remember his mother’s face. He attributes this to his focus on the dream world with Marie.

Aomori Arrival and Grandpa’s Welcome

Upon arriving in Aomori, Marie is struck by the stark contrast between the city and the countryside. They meet Kazuhiro’s grandfather, and Marie is impressed by the delicious meal he prepares. He also gifts her a handmade coin purse made from local Aomori textile. After dinner, while doing dishes, Marie successfully casts a spell, summoning spirits of Kazuhiro’s world. This excites both of them.

Marie Discovers Kazuhiro’s Real Name

During their visit, Marie realizes she has been mispronouncing Kazuhiro’s name. She learns that “Kazuhiho” was a typo he made as a child and never corrected. She becomes flustered and repeatedly says his real name, “Kazuhiro,” much to his embarrassment.

Grandpa’s Knowledge and a Secret Passage

Marie wonders if Kazuhiro’s grandfather knows about the dream world. Kazuhiro dismisses the idea but acknowledges his grandfather’s perceptiveness. While Marie searches for evil spirits in the house, inspired by anime, they explore Kazuhiro’s childhood room. Kazuhiro reveals a secret passage, and Marie excitedly searches for it, eventually finding it with the help of Wridra’s familiar.

An Isekai Rant and the Cat

Commentators have praised the episode’s focus on the characters’ relationships and the beautiful scenery. However, some have criticized the recurring theme of the isekai world not being fully explained, which can be frustrating for viewers who want a deeper understanding of the connection between the two worlds.

The Arkdragon’s familiar, the cat, serves as a connection between Wridra and the main characters, allowing her to participate in their journey remotely.
