The highly anticipated return of the One Piece anime with the second part of the Egghead Arc is just around the corner, and a newly released promotional video has given fans a sneak peek at the exciting developments to come, including a brand new opening theme song. The One Piece anime is set to resume on April 5th, 2025, promising an action-packed continuation of the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventure on the futuristic Egghead Island.

Egghead Arc Part 2: A Double Dose of One Piece

Mark your calendars, One Piece enthusiasts! The anime is making a grand comeback with not one, but two episodes. The first episode, 1123, will air on April 5th, accompanied by an 83-minute recap special to refresh viewers on the events of the Egghead Arc thus far. Episode 1124 will then follow on April 6th, in the series’ new time slot.

New Time Slot

For the first time in 18 years, One Piece will be broadcast in a late-night time slot, airing at 11:15 PM JST on Sundays. This change aligns with the release of new One Piece manga chapters, allowing fans to seamlessly transition from watching the anime to reading the latest manga installment.

“Angels and Demons”: A New Anthem for Egghead

The promotional video released in anticipation of One Piece’s return also revealed the anime’s new opening theme song, titled “Tenshi to Akuma” (Angels and Demons), performed by the group GRe4N BOYZ.

GRe4N BOYZ: The Voices Behind the New Opening

GRe4N BOYZ, formerly known as GReeeeN, is a four-member band known for their hit songs.

Ending Theme

The ending theme song will be performed by muque, a four-person pop band, marking their debut in the anime industry.

Streaming Platforms and Premiere Plans

One Piece: Egghead Arc Part 2 will be available for streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix.

Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll will exclusively host the premiere weekend, offering fans the chance to watch the recap special and the first two episodes of One Piece Part 2 as they air on Fuji TV.

Netflix

Netflix will also stream the series, but with a one-week delay. New episodes will premiere on Netflix on April 12th, with new episodes dropping weekly.

A New Visual Style for a New Arc

The One Piece anime has adopted a new art style for the Egghead Arc, characterized by:

  • Lighter shading
  • Softer linework
  • A more cartoonish look
  • Brighter colors
  • More 3DCG animation

This new aesthetic is intended to reflect the futuristic and wondrous nature of Egghead Island, aligning with the manga’s style and creating a more immersive experience for viewers.

Aligning with the Manga

The updated art style brings the anime closer to Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, pleasing long-time fans and potentially attracting new viewers.

Enhanced Animation

The new style facilitates more fluid and dynamic action sequences, particularly suited for Luffy’s Gear Five transformations.

A Spinoff Series to Celebrate the Return

In addition to the new season, a new One Piece spinoff has been announced to celebrate One Piece: Egghead Arc Part 2’s premiere. Koisuru One Piece (which can also be translated into One Piece In Love) is an officially recognized spinoff of the main series that follows a young boy and girl duo who share names with members of the Straw Hat crew and bond over One Piece. It will be launching across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok on a daily basis across April 1 through 5 in Japan.

The Egghead Arc: Setting the Stage for the Final Saga

The Egghead Arc is the first arc of One Piece’s final saga, promising high stakes, shocking revelations, and intense battles. As the Straw Hats navigate the dangers of Egghead Island, they will confront powerful enemies and uncover long-held secrets that could change the world forever.

A Shift in Tone

While the new art style may appear more lighthearted, the Egghead Arc is expected to be a serious and consequential chapter in the One Piece saga, with the world teetering on the brink of war.

Unveiling Vegapunk’s Secrets

The arc will delve into the mysteries surrounding Dr. Vegapunk, the brilliant but enigmatic scientist whose research could have profound implications for the future of the world.
