The upcoming Me & Roboco anime film has released its second trailer, giving fans a sneak peek at the movie and, most excitingly, a preview of the theme song, “Lolilokkyun Robo❤,” performed by ano. Here’s a breakdown of what we know.

What’s Me & Roboco About?

Me & Roboco is a comedy manga series by Shuhei Miyazaki, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since July 2020. It’s set in a future where most households own maid robots called OrderMaids. The story revolves around Bondo Taira, an average elementary school student who dreams of having his own robot maid like his friends. After some convincing, his mom agrees, but the robot they get is Roboco, a clumsy but powerful maid unlike any other. Roboco’s arrival turns Bondo’s life upside down, leading to a series of hilarious and bizarre adventures.

From Manga to Anime Film

The manga’s popularity led to a 28-episode anime television series that aired from December 2022 to June 2023. Now, Me & Roboco is getting a film adaptation, set to premiere in Japan on April 18, 2025. Akitaro Daichi, who directed the TV anime, is also directing the film at animation studio Gallop.

Second Trailer Highlights the Theme Song

The second trailer for the Me & Roboco anime film was released recently, and it features a preview of the theme song “Lolilokkyun Robo❤,” performed by ano. The song is described as blending perfectly with the comical and charming world of Roboco.

Ano’s Involvement

Ano is not only performing the theme song but also made an appearance in chapter 223 of the manga, which was released in Weekly Shonen Jump on March 3rd. In the chapter, Roboco gets competitive after finding out that Ano will be performing the theme song for the movie. Ano commented that she was imagining the song being played in movie theaters while writing it and hopes everyone will go to the theater to see and listen to it.

Multiverse Mayhem

The film’s story will involve a “multiverse” storyline, featuring multiple Robocos from different world lines.

The Cast

The film features a talented cast, including:

  • Shun Matsuo as Roboco (Original)
  • Minami Tsuda as Bondo
  • Ryotaro Okiayu as Gachi Gorilla
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Motsuo
  • M.A.O as Madoka
  • Kotono Mitsuishi as Bondo’s mother
  • Mayumi Tanaka as Roboco (Classic Battle Worldline)
  • Shigeru Chiba as Roboco (Classic Sci-Fi Action Worldline)
  • Sumire Uesaka as Roboco (Romantic Comedy Worldline)
  • Masako Nozawa as Roboco (Showa era Gag Manga Worldline)
  • Shohei Osada as Dai Kanbu (Mr. Top Brass)

What to Expect

Based on the trailers and visuals released so far, the Me & Roboco anime film promises to be a wild and hilarious ride. With the multiverse storyline, fans can expect to see different versions of Roboco, each with their own unique style and personality. The film will also feature plenty of action, as Roboco protects Bondo and his friends from danger. And of course, there will be plenty of the series’ signature humor and gags.

Where to Watch

The Me & Roboco anime film is scheduled to premiere in Japan on April 18, 2025. There is currently no information on international releases. Crunchyroll streamed the TV anime, so it’s possible they will also stream the film.

More Details

  • Director: Akitaro Daichi
  • Animation Studio: Gallop
  • Script: Sayuri Ooba
  • Character Designs: Yuko Ebara
  • Music: Jun Abe and Seiji Muto

In Conclusion

With its unique blend of comedy, action, and heart, Me & Roboco has become a fan-favorite manga and anime series. The upcoming film promises to be even bigger and better, with a multiverse storyline, new characters, and a catchy theme song by ano. Be sure to check out the second trailer for a sneak peek at the movie.
