The upcoming anime film, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to Be Loved, has released a new special trailer featuring English subtitles and a preview of the opening theme song, “Namida no Parade” (“Parade of Tears”), performed by fhána. This highly anticipated film is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on June 27, 2025.

Storyline

The film centers around Miss Kobayashi, an average office worker whose life is turned upside down when she saves the life of a dragon named Tohru. Tohru, who can transform into a human girl, becomes Kobayashi’s maid, leading to a series of chaotic and heartwarming events.

Kobayashi’s life takes an extraordinary turn when she encounters a dragon outside her apartment. The dragon, Tohru, transforms into a maid and is determined to repay Kobayashi’s kindness from the night before.

Plot

The movie’s plot involves the dragons that have gathered around Miss Kobayashi, and a visitor arrives for Kanna, who turns out to be Kanna’s real father. The film promises to explore emotionally weighty themes while maintaining the cozy reverse-isekai vibes of the original series.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a popular manga series by Coolkyousinnjya that began serialization in 2013. The series follows Kobayashi, a typical office worker, and her life with Tohru, a dragon who becomes her maid. The series has spawned several spin-offs and an anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation.

Anime Series

The anime television series adaptation by Kyoto Animation aired between January and April 2017. A second season, titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, aired between July and September 2021. Both seasons are available for streaming on Crunchyroll.

Video Game

A shoot ’em up video game based on the series, titled Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon Breath, was developed by Kaminari Games and released on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan in March 2022, followed by a worldwide launch by Aksys Games in August 2022.
