The upcoming anime adaptation of “Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?!” has just announced two new additions to its already exciting cast! Fans can look forward to hearing the talents of Saori Hayami and Sumire Uesaka, who will be voicing the roles of Raina and Riria, respectively. This news follows the previous announcement of Kensho Ono as the voice of the main character, Arel, further building anticipation for the anime’s premiere in 2025.

A World Where Class Doesn’t Define You

“Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?!” is set in a world where individuals receive a Class and Skills at the age of ten, which significantly shapes their lives. The story revolves around Arel, born to Sword Princess Farah and Archmage Leon, who discovers he possesses… no class at all! Despite this setback, Arel refuses to be defined by his lack of inherent skills. Instead, he dedicates himself to rigorous training, utilizing his intelligence and cunning to become a unique kind of hero.

Saori Hayami as Raina

Saori Hayami, known for her versatile voice acting roles, will be bringing the character of Raina to life. With a career spanning numerous popular anime, Hayami’s notable roles include:

  • Yor Forger in “SPY x FAMILY”
  • Marlefiss in “The Unaware Atelier Meister”
  • Shinobu Kochou in “Demon Slayer”

Her ability to portray a wide range of emotions and character types makes her a perfect fit for the role of Raina.

Sumire Uesaka as Riria

Sumire Uesaka, another prominent voice actress in the anime industry, will be voicing Riria. Uesaka’s diverse portfolio includes roles such as:

  • Mia Luna Tearmoon in “Tearmoon Empire”
  • Konami Amanatsu in “Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!”
  • Shalltear Bloodfallen in “Overlord”

Uesaka’s distinctive voice and energetic delivery are sure to add a unique dimension to the character of Riria.

The Creative Team Behind the Anime

The “Hero Without a Class” anime is being brought to life by a talented team of creators:

  • Director: Kaoru Yabana (episodes of YuruYuri)
  • Series Composition/Script: Chabo Higurashi (Memories Off 3.5, AMAZING STRANGER)
  • Music: Kento Asahina
  • Sound Director: Hiroto Morishita
  • Animation Studio: A-CAT (also working on The Beginning After the End)

From Web Novel to Anime Sensation

The “Hero Without a Class” series began as a web novel written by Shichio Kuzu on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from November 2017 to May 2020. Recognizing its potential, Earth Star Entertainment acquired the series and began publishing it as a light novel with illustrations by Yumehito Ueda in July 2018. As of June 2019, four volumes have been released.

The series’ popularity led to a manga adaptation illustrated by Akio Nanae, which launched on Comic Earth Star in November 2018. As of March 2025, nine tankobon volumes have been released. One Peace Books has licensed the manga adaptation for English release, bringing the story to a wider audience.

What to Expect from the Anime

The anime adaptation of “Hero Without a Class” promises to deliver an inspiring story about overcoming limitations and achieving greatness through hard work and ingenuity. With a talented cast and a dedicated creative team, the anime is poised to capture the hearts of fans worldwide. The series is scheduled to broadcast in Japan in 2025.
