The anime adaptation of Afro’s four-panel manga, Mono, is making waves with the announcement of its English dub cast and premiere date. Fans can mark their calendars for May 3rd when the English dub begins streaming on Crunchyroll.
What is Mono?
Mono is a Japanese four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Afro. It follows the adventures of high school girls in the “cinephoto” club, which combines cinema and photography. The series began serialization in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Miracle! magazine in May 2017, later transferring to Manga Time Kirara Carat in December 2017. As of April 2024, the manga has been compiled into four tankōbon volumes. Yen Press began releasing the manga in English in November 2024.

Anime Production
The anime television series adaptation is produced by Aniplex, animated by Soigne, and directed by Ryota Aikei (assistant director for Jujutsu Kaisen). The script is written by Yoko Yonaiyama (A Sign of Affection), with Takuya Miyahara designing the characters, and Hajime Hyakkoku composing the music.
Premiere and Streaming
Mono premiered in Japan on April 12 on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, BS11, and AT-X channels. It is also streaming on ABEMA and d Anime Store in Japan. MBS and Yamanashi Broadcasting System are also airing the anime. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime. The English dub premieres on May 3rd on Crunchyroll.
Story
The Photography Club and the Cinema Club are in danger of being closed down. Satsuki, An, and Sakurako decide to join forces and form the Cinephoto Club! Together, they explore the natural beauty of Japan, try out various high-tech gadgets beyond photography and film equipment, and enjoy delicious local cuisine along the way.
