Yuki Kawaguchi’s newest manga series, Otr of the Flame, has been licensed for English release by Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus. The series debuted on May 11, 2025, and is now available to read on both platforms.
A Fiery Tale of Vikings and Ice
Otr of the Flame tells the story of a young, kind-hearted cook named Otr who dreams of becoming a warrior like his father. The manga is set in a world encased in winter due to the encroaching Ice Kingdom. Otr is entrusted with keeping the fires burning in his fortress, but when the demonic army of the Ice Kingdom attacks, both the people and the flame are in danger. The story follows Otr as he discovers a hidden power within himself, a power that could potentially turn the tide against the icy invaders and begin his journey to become a hero.
Kawaguchi is also known for creating The Hunter’s Guild: Red Hood. Otr of the Flame promises a blend of Viking-inspired settings and a classic shonen journey.
