Crunchyroll has announced that it will be streaming the Kamitsubaki City Under Construction anime series starting in July 2025. This announcement coincides with KAMITSUBAKI CITY UNDER CONSTRUCTION’s presence at Anime Central in Chicago.
Release Date and Territories
The anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 3, 2025. Crunchyroll will stream the series in July 2025 in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. The series will be available in its original Japanese audio with English and German subtitles.
Synopsis
Seven years after a major disaster devastated humanity, Kamitsubaki City emerges as a beacon of science and prosperity. However, the city is threatened by Tesseractor, monsters born from human darkness. The Witchling, five girls with magical voices, are the only ones who can stand against these monsters. They fight to protect the city and heal the broken world with every note they sing.
Production
Kamitsubaki City Under Construction is based on the mixed-media project created by Kamitsubaki Studio in 2019, which includes songs, videos, a tabletop game, and a video game. The anime is produced by SMDE. Koudai Kakimoto (BanG Dream!) is the director and series composition writer. Souki Tsukishima is the project supervisor, worldview designer, and supervising scenario writer. PALOW is in charge of character designs.

In addition to the anime, the Kamitsubaki City Under Construction project includes a rhythm game titled Kamitsubaki City Ensemble, which was released on August 29, 2024, for iOS, Android, Windows, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. A visual novel titled Kamitsubaki City Regenerate was released on March 13, 2025, for Windows and Nintendo Switch and includes a virtual reality version.
An official novelization of the anime, Kamitsubaki City Under Construction. NOVELIZED, will be released from KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J imprint on May 23.
Additional Information
The TV anime’s advance theatrical edition, Kamitsubaki City Under Construction. Majo no Musume -Witchling-, will screen for a limited two-week period beginning on June 13 prior to the TV premiere. Advance tickets were made available starting March 28.
