The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Yū Shimizu and Makoto Aogiri’s Otherworldly Munchkin: Let’s Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP ( Isekai Munchkin: HP 1 no Mama de Saikyō Saisoku Danjon Kōryaku) manga has revealed its main cast, additional staff, and an October premiere in its first promotional video. This exciting news was unveiled by Bandai Namco Filmworks, along with a key visual that offers a glimpse into the series.
What’s the Story? A Glimpse into the Plot
Otherworldly Munchkin follows the story of Yukito Kirihara, a 16-year-old high schooler deeply attached to his 14-year-old sister, Sana. Tragedy strikes when an ogre appears, seeking Sana, and Yukito dies trying to protect her. However, a mysterious woman offers him reincarnation into another world. Discovering Sana’s description in a World Book, Yukito embarks on a quest to find and save her, armed with only 1 HP and a “munchkin’s” cunning.
A “munchkin,” in the context of tabletop role-playing games (TRPGs), is a player who knows the game rules inside and out and isn’t afraid to exploit loopholes to gain an advantage. In this isekai adventure, Yukito must embrace the munchkin mindset to survive the dangers of this new world.
