The highly anticipated second season of “Call of the Night” is just around the corner, and fans have a reason to be extra excited. The dynamic hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, who provided the iconic opening and closing themes for the first season, are back to create the opening theme song for Season 2, titled “Mirage”! A brand-new trailer has dropped, offering a sneak peek of the song and hinting at the thrilling nocturnal adventures to come.

A Perfect Match: Creepy Nuts and Call of the Night

The collaboration between “Call of the Night” and Creepy Nuts has always felt like a match made in anime heaven. The first season’s opening theme, “Daten” (Fallen Angel), and ending theme, “Yofukashi no Uta” (Call of the Night), perfectly captured the anime’s alluring and mysterious atmosphere. The songs blended seamlessly with the show’s themes of sleepless nights, the allure of the vampire lifestyle, and the search for love and belonging in the darkness.

Creepy Nuts’ unique sound, which combines DJ Matsunaga’s impressive DJ skills with R-Shitei’s lyrical prowess, has resonated with a wide audience, both in Japan and internationally. Their music often explores themes of self-discovery, perseverance, and the challenges of navigating modern life, which align well with the struggles and aspirations of the characters in “Call of the Night.”

The Magic of “Mirage”: What We Know So Far

While the full version of “Mirage” is yet to be released, the trailer offers an enticing glimpse of what’s to come. The song seems to maintain the signature Creepy Nuts sound while incorporating new elements that reflect the evolving storyline and character development in Season 2.

From the snippet available, “Mirage” evokes a sense of mystery and intrigue, hinting at the deeper secrets and challenges that Ko and Nazuna will face in the upcoming season. The lyrics and melody capture the ethereal and dreamlike quality of the night, perfectly complementing the visual aesthetic of the anime.

Season 2: What to Expect

The second season of “Call of the Night” promises to delve deeper into the characters’ backstories, explore new relationships, and introduce new threats. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:

Synopsis

Ko overcomes his confusion about becoming a vampire and decides to “like” Nazuna, while Nazuna resolves to make Ko “fall in love” with her. Without understanding what “love” even is, the two of them spend their nights together in a frenzy. Meanwhile, Detective Uguisu Anko is closing in with her plot to kill vampires, not just Nazuna. A vampire’s weakness is “anything they were attached to when they were human” and so they all try to get rid of this weakness before it’s too late. But, Nazuna has no memory of her human life. What is Nazuna’s hidden past? Why did Anko start killing vampires? And what is the “secret” that Nazuna and Anko share? For Ko, Nazuna, Anko, a fun “late night” doesn’t end here… a new “night” begins!

New Characters and Cast

Season 2 will introduce new characters who will play a significant role in the unfolding story. Maaya Uchida will be joining the cast as Haru Nanakusa, a nurse who holds the key to unlocking Nazuna’s past. Rina Sato (known for her roles in “A Certain Scientific Railgun”) will voice Kiku Hoshimi.

Returning Staff

The talented team behind the first season is returning to bring Season 2 to life. Tomoyuki Itamura is back as the director, with studio LIDEN FILMS handling the animation. Michiko Yokote is in charge of the scripts, Haruka Sagawa is designing the characters, and Yoshiaki Dewa is composing the music. Izumi Takizawa and Nao Miyoshi will serve as assistant directors for the sequel.

Manga Sequel: “Call of the Night: Paradise Arc”

In addition to the anime’s return, fans of the original manga have another reason to celebrate. A new manga arc, titled “Call of the Night: Paradise Arc” (Yofukashi no Uta – Rakuen-hen), is set to begin serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday on July 2, 2025. This short-term, standalone story will mark the first new content in the manga series since its conclusion in January 2024.

Release Date and Streaming Information

“Call of the Night” Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on July 4, 2025, in Japan. For international viewers, HIDIVE has confirmed that they will be streaming the anime in July.
