The Return of the Psychic Teacher
“Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube” is a new anime adaptation of the beloved manga series, which originally ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1993 to 1999. The story follows Meisuke Nueno, a seemingly gentle and outgoing homeroom teacher at Domori Elementary, who harbors a secret: he is Japan’s only psychic teacher, armed with a demon-possessed left hand. Nube uses his supernatural powers to protect his students from a wave of inexplicable phenomena, evil spirits, ghosts, and the school’s seven mysteries. Ryotaro Okiayu, who voiced Nube in the original 1996 anime series, is reprising his iconic role for this new adaptation.
The anime is produced by Studio KAI and is set to premiere in Japan on TV Asahi’s IMAnimation W block. The series will have an hour-long premiere comprising its first two episodes. This reboot aims to blend Japanese mythology, urban legends, and action, updating the setting and characters for a modern audience while retaining the charm of the original.
