The popular manga series Fly Me to the Moon, also known as Tonikaku Kawaii, has returned from a seven-week hiatus. The latest chapter was published on Wednesday in this year’s 30th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, marking its official return.

The manga, written and illustrated by Kenjirō Hata, went on hiatus on May 7, 2025. Prior to this recent break, the series had also gone on a short hiatus in October 2023, with Hata humorously stating he needed to recover from the “shocking” chapter 236 of Jujutsu Kaisen.

About “Fly Me to the Moon”

Fly Me to the Moon (Japanese: Tonikaku Kawaii, lit. “Adorable Anyways” or “Cute, No Matter What”) is a romantic comedy and slice-of-life series that began serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in February 2018. The story follows Nasa Yuzaki, a teenage genius, and his developing relationship with Tsukasa, the mysterious girl who saved him from a traffic accident and agreed to date him only if they got married first.

As of June 2025, Shogakukan has published 32 compiled book volumes of the manga. Viz Media holds the English licensing rights for the manga and has been releasing it in English, with 28 volumes published as of May 13, 2025. Viz Manga also offers simultaneous English publication of chapters as they are released in Japan.

The manga has inspired several anime adaptations:

  • An anime television series titled TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You premiered in October 2020 and aired for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series, including an English dub.
  • An original video animation (OVA), Tonikaku Kawaii SNS, was released in August 2021 and also streamed on Crunchyroll.
  • A new anime episode streamed in November 2022.
  • The second season of the anime premiered in April 2023.
  • A four-episode anime, TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You ~High School Days~, premiered in July 2023.

Fans have expressed support for Hata’s well-being during his breaks, recognizing the importance of mangaka taking time to rest and focus on their health and storytelling.
