The highly anticipated third season of the Arknights anime, titled Arknights: Rise from Ember, has officially revealed its opening sequence video, offering fans a glimpse into the upcoming series. The creditless opening, set to the theme song “End of Days” performed by ReoNa, was unveiled on June 27, 2025.
Arknights: Rise from Ember is poised to premiere on July 4, 2025, airing on Tokyo MX and other channels in Japan, with Crunchyroll set to stream the series globally starting on the same day.
A Glimpse into the New Season
The newly released opening sequence provides visual cues and thematic elements that hint at the narrative direction of Arknights: Rise from Ember. ReoNa, who also performed the opening theme for the first season, Arknights: Prelude to Dawn, returns to deliver “End of Days,” further building anticipation for the new season. The ending theme song for Rise from Ember will be “Truth” by Hana Itoki.
Production and Story Adaptation
Yostar Pictures is once again at the helm of the animation production for Arknights: Rise from Ember, with Yuki Watanabe directing and Masaki Nishikawa serving as assistant director. Aya Takafuji is responsible for the character designs for animation, and Yuki Hayashi composes the music, continuing their roles from previous seasons.
The Arknights anime adapts the popular tactical RPG/tower defense mobile game developed by Hypergryph. This third season, Rise from Ember, specifically adapts the latter half of the game’s Main Theme’s Act I: “Shatter of a Vision” story arc, covering the events of Episodes 07 and 08. The narrative is set in the dystopian world of Terra, a planet frequently ravaged by Catastrophes and characterized by the mysterious mineral Originium. This mineral, while a valuable energy resource, also causes a deadly, incurable disease known as Oripathy, leading to societal oppression of the infected.
The story continues to follow the pharmaceutical company Rhodes Island, a neutral organization that offers assistance and a sense of belonging to those infected with Oripathy. Rhodes Island often engages in paramilitary actions against the Reunion Movement, a terrorist organization that uses violent methods to challenge governments that oppress the Infected. The previous seasons, Arknights: Prelude to Dawn (2022) and Arknights: Perish in Frost (2023), established the core conflict and characters. In Rise from Ember, the plot sees Amiya and her allies heading to the central area of Chernobog, near Ryumon, as they confront the escalating conflict and underlying conspiracies.
