The story centers on Togashi, a naturally gifted runner, and Komiya, a determined transfer student who develops an obsession with the 100-meter dash after meeting Togashi. Years later, they meet again as rivals, revealing their true selves on the track.
Kenji Iwaisawa, director of ON-GAKU: Our Sound, is helming the film at Rock ‘n’ Roll Mountain. Yasuyuki Mutō is writing the script, with Keisuke Kojima as character designer and chief animation director, and Keikankun Yamaguchi as art director. Hiroaki Tsutsumi is composing the music.
“100 Meters” had its world premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 12. Following its Japanese release on September 19, GKIDS will screen the movie in North American theaters in October.
