The “Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season” anime has announced a new anime project, described as a “new episode” that is currently in production. This announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual featuring main characters and a promotional video. While the term “new episode” might suggest a single installment, within the Monogatari franchise, it often indicates a new story arc or novel adaptation that could span multiple episodes or even films.
The “Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season” anime previously aired for 14 episodes from July to October 2024, covering the Orokamonogatari, Nademonogatari, Wazamonogatari, and Shinobumonogatari arcs. The Blu-ray and DVD releases for this season began in December 2024 and are scheduled to continue until June 2025.
The main staff for the latest anime includes Chief Director Akiyuki Shinbo, Director Midori Yoshizawa, and Character Designer/Chief Animation Director Akio Watanabe, with SHAFT as the animation studio. The anime adapts the light novel series by Nisio Isin, which has been serialized since 2006. Crunchyroll streams the series, which follows Koyomi Araragi’s friends as they face new supernatural challenges after his departure for university.
Alongside the anime news, a new novel in the Monogatari series, “Tsugimonogatari,” by Nisio Isin, is set to be released in October 2025.
