The highly anticipated third season of the anime series Record of Ragnarok is set to debut on Netflix in December 2025, unveiling a fresh visual and announcing key additions to its voice cast. This new installment promises to continue the intense battles between gods and humanity for the survival of the human race.
Key Visual and Battle Teasers
A new visual for Record of Ragnarok Season 3 has been revealed, featuring the combatants of the forthcoming rounds. The latest trailer also provides a glimpse into three pivotal battles: the seventh, eighth, and ninth rounds of Ragnarok. The seventh round will see humanity’s representative Qin Shi Huang face off against Hades. Following this, the eighth round is confirmed to feature Nikola Tesla against Beelzebub, and the ninth round will pit King Leonidas against Apollo. These teased matchups underscore the continued high stakes and diverse roster of historical and mythological figures that define the series.
Expanded Voice Cast
The upcoming season introduces several prominent voice actors to bring new characters to life. Makoto Furukawa joins the cast as Nikola Tesla, the brilliant scientist representing humanity. Daisuke Namikawa will voice Beelzebub, one of the formidable gods participating in the tournament. King Leonidas, the Spartan warrior, will be voiced by Hiroshi Shirokuma. Rounding out the new cast announcements is Kenichi Suzumura as Apollo, the Greek god of the sun. These esteemed voice actors are expected to add significant depth and presence to their respective roles, enhancing the dramatic confrontations.
Production Staff Changes and Animation Studio
Record of Ragnarok Season 3 will feature a notable shift in its main production staff. Koichi Hatsumi (known for directing Tokyo Revengers) takes over as director, succeeding Masao Okubo. Yasuyuki Mutō, whose credits include Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway and Tokyo Revengers, is the new main writer, taking over from Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Yuta Yamada. Character designs will be handled by Yoko Tanabe and Hisashi Kawashima, a change from Masaki Sato. Yasuharu Takanashi, however, will return to compose the music, ensuring continuity in the anime’s distinctive score.
Animation production for the third season will be a collaboration between Yumeta Company and newcomer MARU Animation. Yumeta Company previously supported the production of Season 1 and shared animation duties for Season 2. Notably, Graphinica, which was involved in the previous two seasons, is no longer listed in the production credits for the third season. This change in animation studios and key staff aims to bring a fresh perspective to the series while maintaining its core appeal.
The Continuing Saga of Ragnarok
The Record of Ragnarok anime adapts the manga written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui, with illustrations by Azychika. The manga has been serialized in Monthly Comic Zenon since November 2017 and has sold over 18 million copies. The series depicts 13 one-on-one battles between humanity’s greatest historical figures and powerful gods, with the fate of humanity resting on the outcome of these divine duels. The third season will delve deeper into this high-stakes tournament, continuing the epic narrative of these intense battles.
