HIDIVE, the anime streaming service, is set to debut the English dub for the slice-of-life drama anime Flower and Asura (original title: Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku) on July 16. This premiere marks the beginning of HIDIVE’s “Summer of Dubs” initiative, which will feature English-language releases of several new and recent simulcast series exclusively on the platform throughout the summer and early fall.
Flower and Asura Debuts as Part of “Summer of Dubs”
The English dub of Flower and Asura, a series that initially aired in Winter 2025, will be the first title in HIDIVE’s “Summer of Dubs” lineup. The anime is an adaptation of the manga by writer Ayano Takeda and artist Musshu. The series is produced by Studio Bind.
Series Premise
Flower and Asura is a heartwarming slice-of-life drama. The story centers on Hana Haruyama, a high school first-year student residing on the quiet island of Tonakijima, which has a population of approximately 600 people. Hana finds joy in reading literature to the island’s children, possessing exceptional narration skills. Mizuki, the president of the school’s Broadcasting Club, recognizes Hana’s unique ability to captivate audiences with her readings and invites her to join the club. Through her involvement with the Broadcasting Club, Hana experiences new adventures and further explores her passion for reading.
Expanding Dub Offerings
Following Flower and Asura, HIDIVE’s “Summer of Dubs” will continue with additional English dub premieres. In August, the lineup is expected to include the supernatural romance drama Call of the Night Season 2 and the coming-of-age music drama Rock is a Lady’s Modesty. September will see the release of the second cour of the supernatural historical fantasy series Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho. In addition to these upcoming premieres, HIDIVE is also currently releasing new English-dubbed episodes for ongoing titles such as 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, I’m Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!, and the first cour of Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho. New dubbed episodes for these ongoing series are released weekly.
