Story and Setting
The film’s narrative centers on Rise, a contemporary young woman who finds herself unexpectedly transported to Wonderland, where she encounters Alice. Rise, a university student struggling with life’s challenges and job hunting, enters Wonderland after discovering an invitation left by her late grandmother. In this fantastical world, she embarks on a journey with Alice, encountering a variety of iconic characters from Lewis Carroll’s novel, including the White Rabbit, Caterpillar, Queen of Hearts, Card Soldiers, Mad Hatter, March Hare, Humpty Dumpty, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, and the Cheshire Cat. The film explores the “crazy commotion that ensues” as Rise navigates this adventure with Alice, prompting her to choose her own future.
Production and Staff
Toshiya Shinohara, known for his work on Black Butler and The aquatope on white sand, is directing the film at P.A. Works. Yūko Kakihara, who has worked on Blue Box and Urusei Yatsura 2022, is responsible for penning the script. Shochiku and TBS are listed as production coordinators for the project.
