Overview of the Announcement

The light novel and manga series “Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Itanode, Kokuhaku Shite Mita,” officially translated as “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her,” is receiving a television anime adaptation. Futabasha announced this development, with the anime primarily based on Kairi’s manga adaptation of Suisei’s original light novel.

Creative Team and Studio

The anime production is being handled by Studio Gekkō. Yasutaka Yamamoto (known for Medalist and Servant × Service) is serving as the chief director, while Tomonori Mine (Isekai Onsen Paradise) is directing the series. Yukie Sugawara, who has worked on titles like Overlord and No Guns Life, is in charge of both writing and overseeing the series scripts. Character designs for animation are being adapted by Mina Ōsawa from La-na’s original illustrations. The musical score will be composed by Satoru Kōsaki (BEASTARS, The Apothecary Diaries) and MONACA. Ryō Aizawa from Starry Cube is the producer.

Cast and Characters

The main voice cast for the anime has been revealed:

  • Yōki will be voiced by Kōhei Amasaki. Amasaki described Yōki as a 21-year-old former human turned demon with a “middle schooler fantasy edge,” highlighting the fun contrast in his character.
  • Cecilia will be voiced by Kana Hanazawa. Hanazawa characterized Cecilia as the party’s kind and nurturing cleric who is also willing to sacrifice herself for others, finding joy in her life through meeting Yōki despite her significant mission.

The story revolves around Yōki, a man reincarnated into a fantasy world not as a hero or demon lord, but as a low-ranking demon lord’s underling. When the hero’s party attacks the demon lord’s castle, Yōki encounters Cecilia, a priestess in the hero’s party, and falls in love with her at first sight, initiating an unusual romantic fantasy.

Source Material

The original light novel series, penned by Suisei, began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2013. Futabasha later published three volumes of the light novel. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Kairi, started in 2021 on Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster website. As of July 2025, the manga has eleven compiled volumes, with the twelfth volume scheduled for release on July 30.
