The popular fantasy romance manga series, Yona of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona), has announced a three-month hiatus, commencing after the release of Chapter 271 in the July issue of Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume magazine. The series is scheduled to resume serialization on October 3, 2025, with Chapter 272, appearing in the magazine’s 21st issue.

Strategic Pause for a Grand Finale

This hiatus comes at a pivotal time for the beloved series by Mizuho Kusanagi, as it is currently in its final arc. The break is reportedly intended to allow the mangaka to meticulously plan and execute a satisfying conclusion to the long-running narrative. Fans have expressed understanding, acknowledging that such a pause can contribute to a well-crafted ending, especially after the emotionally intense Chapter 271.

During the three-month break, Hana to Yume magazine will feature a “look back” at the manga’s story so far, offering readers an opportunity to revisit key moments as they await the series’ return.

Legacy of Yona of the Dawn

Yona of the Dawn debuted in Hana to Yume magazine in 2009 and has since garnered significant acclaim within the shojo genre. The narrative follows Princess Yona, who, after witnessing a tragic event and being forced from her home, embarks on a journey of self-discovery and resilience, gathering allies to protect her kingdom.

The series has inspired a 24-episode anime adaptation in 2014, as well as three original anime DVDs and multiple stage plays. As of June 2025, Hakusensha has shipped 46 compiled book volumes in Japan, with Viz Media releasing the 44th English volume in June. Volume 47, rumored to be the final volume, is anticipated for release in Spring 2026 and is expected to include a special 64-page artbook.
