Glacier Bay Books has confirmed its plans to release Konomi Oumi’s manga collection, Universe From the Balcony (also known as Veranda kara Uchū), in English later this year. This forthcoming publication will mark another English-language release for Oumi through Glacier Bay Books, following their previous work, From This Flame.
Universe From the Balcony is set to feature approximately 180 pages, compiling eight distinct stories by Oumi. The publisher describes the collection as a “mind-expanding panorama,” encompassing a variety of themes such as ethereal beings, the subtle scent of a goldfish bowl, silent plant spirits, unimaginable love, and a mermaid grappling with forgotten swimming abilities. The stories are noted for their quiet, vividly beautiful nature and intricate construction.
Konomi Oumi has a history with Glacier Bay Books, having also contributed to the third volume of their Glaeolia indie manga anthology series. Their initial English debut, From This Flame, also consisted of eight stories and was published in March 2022 by Glacier Bay Books.
