Tokyo, Japan – HERO, the acclaimed creator behind the popular romance manga Horimiya, is set to launch a new series titled Koe no Furu Heya (The Room of Fallen Voices) on July 28. The announcement came in this year’s 34th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine.
The new manga will feature art by Takahashi Tsutsuji. Koe no Furu Heya is described as a suspenseful story following an illustrator who receives an unexpected message from an old high school classmate regarding a stalker.
Details on the New Series
The upcoming launch of Koe no Furu Heya marks HERO’s return to Weekly Big Comic Spirits. This follows a previous collaboration with Imaru Adachi on the three-chapter one-shot manga Terasu Hikari wa Ani no Omokage (The Light that Shines on Me is My Brother’s Face), which ran in the same magazine in June 2024.
Creator’s Recent Activities
While Horimiya concluded its serialization in March 2021 with the 17th and final compiled volume released in July 2023 in Japan, and October 2024 for the English version, HERO has continued to be active in the manga scene. Horimiya, an adaptation of HERO’s four-panel web manga Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, gained significant popularity, spawning a successful anime adaptation that premiered in 2021.
The original Hori-san to Miyamura-kun ran from 2007-2011, and a new version by Daisuke Hagiwara, titled Horimiya, ran from 2011-2021. HERO also revived the original version as Hori-san to Miyamura-kun Omake, which ran from 2012-2021. A new Horimiya story from HERO, titled A Piece of Memories, was included in Volume 17, released in English in April 2024 by Yen Press.
Fans eager for HERO’s latest narrative can look forward to the debut of Koe no Furu Heya in the upcoming issue of Weekly Big Comic Spirits.
