The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! (Mushoku no Eiyū: Betsu ni Skill Nanka Iranakattan da ga) has announced four additional cast members, further detailing the voice talent bringing the light novel series to life. This expansion of the cast comes as the anime prepares for its October 2025 debut, with a world premiere of the first episode scheduled at Anime NYC from August 21-24 in New York City.
Key Additions to the Cast
The newly revealed voice actors and their respective roles are:
- Kenshō Ono as Arel: Ono will voice the protagonist, Arel, who, despite being born to powerful parents, is branded as “Classless.”
- Saori Hayami as Laina: Hayami joins the cast as Laina.
- Sumire Uesaka as Lilia: Uesaka will lend her voice to the character Lilia.
- Rumi Okubo as Kufa: Okubo is cast as the character Kufa.
These additions complete a core group of characters pivotal to Arel’s journey as he strives to become a hero through sheer effort, overcoming his initial lack of a class or skills.
Anime Production and Story Background
The Hero Without a Class anime is directed by Kaoru Yabana at Studio A-Cat. Chabo Higurashi is overseeing and writing the series’ scripts, while Hiroto Morishita is the sound director, and Kento Asahina is composing the music.
The story is set in a world where individuals receive a “Class” and “Skills” at the age of ten, significantly impacting their lives. The protagonist, Arel, son of the “Sword Princess” Farah and “Archmage” Leon, is expected to inherit a remarkable profession. However, he is shockingly branded as “Classless.” Despite this initial disappointment, Arel dedicates himself to continuous effort, acquiring new powers that eventually surpass even innate talents. This determination shapes him into a new kind of hero.
Music and International Release
Kaya will perform the opening theme song titled “Reincarnation,” and Utahime Dream All Stars will perform the ending theme song “Kiseki Nanka Iranai” (I Don’t Need Something Like a Miracle).
The anime is slated to debut in Japan in October and will be available on television and streamed on d Anime Store. For international audiences, HIDIVE will stream the series as it airs.
The original light novel series, written by Shichio Kuzu and illustrated by Yumehito Ueda, began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in November 2017. Earth Star Entertainment started publishing the novels in July 2018. A manga adaptation by Nanae Akio launched in Comic Earth Star in November 2018, with One Peace Books releasing the manga in English.
