A new anime series titled Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai R (or Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai Returns) has been announced, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Shimahara’s original doujin project. The announcement was made on “Underwear Day”. Saya Fukase is returning to direct the anime at UWAN Pictures, with Shimahara again credited for original work and general supervision.
Commemorating a Decade of Disgusted Faces
The upcoming Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai R marks a significant milestone for the franchise, celebrating ten years since the inception of Shimahara’s unique doujin project. The project, which features illustrations and photos of women displaying disgusted expressions while showing their underwear, has garnered a substantial following, with over 70,000 books in print, including illustration collections, photo collections, and manga.
Production Details and Returning Staff
Saya Fukase, who previously directed the anime adaptations, will once again be at the helm for Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai R. The animation studio UWAN Pictures is also returning for the new series. Shimahara, the original creator, will continue to oversee the project as the credited original work and general supervision.
Previous Anime Iterations
The Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai project has seen several anime adaptations prior to this new announcement. The first 24-minute anime “season” was initially released at Comic Market 94 in August 2018, with a Blu-ray Disc release following that same month. A second “season” consisting of six episodes, totaling 24 minutes, shipped on Blu-ray Disc in December 2019 and also streamed on Niconico Channel in November 2019. An OVA titled Iya na Kao sare nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai ver 3.0 was released in February 2023.
Beyond the Screen: A 10th Anniversary Exhibit
In addition to the new anime series, the 10th anniversary of the Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai project will be celebrated with an exhibit of illustrations. This exhibit is scheduled to take place at Art Gallery Akihabara in Tokyo from August 22-31, where exclusive merchandise will also be available for purchase.
Manga Adaptation and Project Growth
The popularity of the Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai project extends beyond its anime adaptations and original doujinshi. A manga adaptation titled Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai – Yo wa Pantsu ga Mitai zo (I Want You To Make a Disgusted Face and Show Me Your Underwear – I Want to See Your Underwear) launched in May 2019 on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website. The compiled digital book series of Shimahara’s doujin project currently has ten volumes.
