A Glimpse into the World of “Returners”
The newly released promotional video offers a first look at the anime’s visual style and the dynamic action sequences expected from the series. The original manga, “Petals of Reincarnation,” centers on Tōya Senji, a seemingly talentless high school student who discovers that true talent isn’t developed but inherited from past lives. This inheritance is made possible through the mysterious “Stem of Reincarnation,” which allows individuals to access the abilities of historical figures and even notorious criminals by self-inflicting death. Tōya’s journey begins when he encounters Haito Luo Buffett, a “Returner” who has gained the skills of the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. He soon learns that many other Returners exist, each with their own ambitious plans for their newfound talents.
Key Staff and Production Details
Benten Film is producing the “Petals of Reincarnation” anime, with Shun Kudō at the helm as director. Kōsuke Murayama is serving as assistant director. The series composition is being handled by Atsuo Ishino, while Haruna Katō is responsible for character design. The music for the series will be composed by Kohta Yamamoto. HIDIVE is co-producing the series and will stream it upon its release in 2026.

The anime adaptation was initially announced in Japan on August 1, 2024, as part of the manga’s 10th-anniversary celebrations, marking a decade of captivating storytelling.
