The highly anticipated second season of the romantic comedy anime series, Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You (Dōse, Koishite Shimaunda.), has been officially announced and is set to premiere in 2026. The news, confirmed on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, also revealed that the series will air on TBS and BS11 channels in Japan.

Returning Director and New Visuals

Junichi Yamamoto, who helmed the first season, is confirmed to return as director for the sophomore installment. Accompanying the announcement, the anime’s official website unveiled a new visual for the second season, depicting the main characters by a poolside, hinting at new settings for the upcoming narrative. Additionally, character visuals showcasing the main cast as adults were released, suggesting a potential time skip or exploration of their future lives. The confirmed returning cast members for these adult versions of the characters include Sakura Shinfuku as Mizuho Nishino, Kazuki Ura as Kizuki Hazawa, Sion Yoshitaka as Shin Kashiwagi, Shōya Chiba as Airu Izumi, and Satoshi Inomata as Shūgo Hoshikawa.

First Season’s Run and Story Overview

The first season of Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You premiered on January 9, 2025, and concluded in March 2025, spanning 12 episodes. Crunchyroll simulcasted the series as it aired, making it available to a global audience.

Based on Haruka Mitsui’s shojo manga series, Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You centers on Mizuho Nishino, an aspiring manga artist. The story kicks off on her 17th birthday, which turns out to be a dismal day, compounded by a global pandemic impacting school events. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when Kizuki, one of her four childhood friends whom she considers family, suddenly confesses his feelings for her. The series explores Mizuho’s journey as she navigates her evolving relationships with her childhood friends, who all seem to harbor romantic feelings for her, forcing her to confront her own emotions amidst the backdrop of significant social changes.

Production Details and Manga Status

The anime adaptation is produced by Typhoon Graphics. Yu Murai (and Nagisa Nario for scripts) handled the series composition for the first season, with Io Shiiba on character designs and Keiji Inai composing the music. The manga, serialized in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine since November 2020, has released 11 tankōbon volumes as of March 2025, with a 12th volume slated for August 2025. Kodansha USA Publishing has licensed the manga for English digital and print release. The series has also seen a stage play adaptation.
