The popular BanG Dream! multimedia franchise has announced a new film project for its Ave Mujica anime, alongside revealing key details for the upcoming mini-anime series, Ganzo! Bandori-chan. These announcements were made during a recent BanG Dream! event, exciting fans with new content for the burgeoning Ave Mujica storyline and a fresh comedic spin-off.
Ave Mujica Anime Expands with New Film Project
A new film project for the BanG Dream! Ave Mujica anime is officially in production. This film is positioned as a separate endeavor from the previously confirmed sequel television series for both BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! and BanG Dream! Ave Mujica. As of now, specific details regarding the film’s content—whether it will be a compilation of existing footage with new elements or an entirely original story—remain undisclosed.
The Ave Mujica anime, officially titled Ave Mujica – The Die is Cast –, initially premiered in Japan on January 2, 2025, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it aired. The narrative follows the titular band Ave Mujica, formed by Sakiko Togawa after a personal loss, as she gathers other troubled girls to create a “perfect masquerade” on stage, exploring themes of sorrow, death, and hidden emotions. The anime was produced by Sanzigen with Koudai Kakimoto as director and Yuniko Ayana as scriptwriter and supervisor.
Ganzo! Bandori-chan Mini-Anime Set for October Debut
Fans can also look forward to Ganzo! Bandori-chan (alternatively known as Ganzo! BanG Dream! Chan), a new comedy mini-anime series. This series is slated to begin streaming on YouTube and other platforms on October 2, with new episodes releasing every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. JST. The mini-anime is planned for a substantial run, comprising 52 episodes and continuing for a full year.
Directing the Ganzo! Bandori-chan series are Kenshirō Morii and Seiya Miyajima, both of whom previously worked on the BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Pico anime and its subsequent seasons. Their return suggests a continuation of the lighthearted and comedic tone that characterized the Pico series.
The Expanding BanG Dream! Universe
The BanG Dream! multimedia project, launched by Bushiroad in January 2015, continues to expand its anime offerings. The franchise has seen multiple television anime seasons, films, and spin-offs, developing a complex web of interconnected stories centered around various girl bands.
BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!!, which chronologically precedes Ave Mujica, premiered in June 2023. Both It’s MyGO!!!!! and Ave Mujica received positive reception, leading to the announcement of their respective sequel television series in March. The introduction of a new Ave Mujica film alongside the ongoing development of sequel TV series highlights the franchise’s commitment to deepening the lore and character arcs within this segment of the BanG Dream! universe.
