The highly anticipated English-subtitled main trailer for the My Hero Academia anime’s eighth and final season has been officially released, confirming and previewing the new opening theme song “THE REVO” by musical duo Porno Graffitti. The trailer offers a glimpse into the climactic battles and high stakes awaiting fans in what promises to be an epic conclusion to Izuku Midoriya’s journey.

The Grand Finale: Premiere Date and Streaming

The eighth and final season of My Hero Academia is set to premiere on October 4, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. JST (4:30 a.m. EDT) on YTV and NTV’s affiliate channels in Japan. For international fans, Crunchyroll has confirmed it will simulcast the new season worldwide, excluding Asia, as it airs in Japan.

This final installment follows the four-episode My Hero Academia: Memories compilation special, which premiered in April 2024, and Season 7, which debuted in May 2024.

Porno Graffitti’s Return for “THE REVO”

A significant reveal in the new trailer is the announcement of Porno Graffitti performing the opening theme, titled “THE REVO.” This marks a full-circle moment for the acclaimed musical act, as they famously performed the very first opening theme for My Hero Academia, “The Day,” back in Season 1. Their return for the series’ conclusion adds a layer of nostalgia and anticipation for long-time viewers.

Trailer Highlights and The Final War Arc

The English-subtitled trailer delves deep into the intensity of the “Final War Arc,” which the upcoming season will primarily adapt. The footage emphasizes the overwhelming menace of Tomura Shigaraki, depicting him as “destruction and ruin embodied.” Class 1-A, led by Izuku Midoriya, is shown rallying to become the last hope against the villains in what is set to be the ultimate showdown.

Adapting the Manga’s Climax

The final season is expected to cover chapters 398 through 430 of the original manga, encompassing the pivotal “Final War Arc” and the subsequent “Epilogue Arc.” While elements of the “Final War Arc” began to be adapted in Episode 143 (Season 7) of the anime, the bulk of the intense battles, including the decisive confrontation between Deku and Shigaraki, will unfold in Season 8.

The Creative Team Behind the Action

The core staff members who have brought My Hero Academia to life are returning for this final season. This includes chief director Kenji Nagasaki, director Naomi Nakayama, script supervisor Yōsuke Kuroda, character designers Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima, and composer Yuki Hayashi. Studio BONES, renowned for its dynamic animation, continues to be at the helm of the production.

Engaging the Fandom

In anticipation of the final season’s launch, the anime’s staff initiated a special fan voting project titled “My Hero Academia ULTIMATE SCENE RANKING.” Fans from around the globe have been invited to vote for their favorite hero and villain scenes from the past seven seasons. The voting period is set to conclude on September 15, with the results slated to be announced during the final season’s premiere on October 4.
