The highly anticipated second season of the anime adaptation of Robinson Haruhara and Hirakei’s 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess is officially set to premiere in January 2026, and a new teaser trailer offers fans a glimpse of what’s to come, notably featuring the new character Sakura Heartrock. The teaser, released by the anime’s official accounts, builds excitement for the return of the unique comedy series.

Sakura Heartrock Takes Center Stage in New Teaser

The recently unveiled teaser trailer for 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess Season 2 prominently showcases Sakura Heartrock, an ex-assassin and a significant new addition to the cast. Mutsumi Tamura has been cast as the voice of Sakura Heartrock, a detail previously announced in December 2024. Her introduction in the teaser suggests a pivotal role in the upcoming “torture” escapades alongside the titular Princess. This inclusion promises to expand the comedic dynamics and character interactions within the Demon Lord’s army and with the captured Princess.

Returning to the Fanciful “Torture”

Fans can expect the return of the charmingly unconventional “torture” methods that made the first season a hit. The premise revolves around a captured princess from the Imperial Army who, despite being armed with her mythical sword Excalibur, is subjected to “merciless torture” by the Demon Lord’s army. However, these tortures are far from brutal, often involving irresistible treats like fluffy, freshly baked toast or steaming bowls of midnight ramen, designed to extract secrets through temptation rather than pain. The anime’s heartwarming comedy style, which garnered a strong following in its initial run from January to March 2024, is expected to continue.

Production Details and Streaming Availability

Studio PINE JAM, which animated the first season, will return for the second season. Key staff members from the first season, including director Yoko Kanamori, series composer Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, character designers Toshiya Kono and Satoshi Furuhashi, and music composer Masaru Yokoyama, were part of the initial production. The second season will air on TOKYO MX, BS11, and Kansai TV in Japan, with an advance stream available on ABEMA. For international viewers, Crunchyroll has licensed Season 2 and will stream it in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, the Indian subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.

The Manga’s Conclusion and Anime’s Future

The original manga series, written by Robinson Haruhara and illustrated by Hirakei, recently concluded its serialization on Shonen Jump+ as of August 19. The manga began in April 2019 and has been collected into seventeen tankōbon volumes as of May 2025. While the manga’s conclusion provides a complete story, the anime’s second season looks set to further adapt the beloved comedic premise, introducing new elements like Sakura Heartrock to keep the series fresh for returning and new viewers alike.
