Digital reading and distribution platform GlobalComix announced on Thursday, August 21, that it has added over 500 English-language manga volumes from Kodansha’s extensive library, available for worldwide purchase. This significant expansion also includes the debut of a special English issue of Young Magazine, accessible for free on the platform through the end of 2025.

A Landmark Partnership for Digital Manga Readers

The collaboration between GlobalComix and Kodansha marks a major step for the digital comic platform in expanding its manga offerings. The initial wave of over 500 volumes became available on August 21, with an additional 5,500+ volumes, encompassing both new releases and a deep back catalog, slated for release on August 27. All Kodansha titles are available à la carte, with GlobalComix Gold members receiving exclusive discounts on every purchase.

Christopher Carter, CEO and Co-Founder of GlobalComix, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting his personal connection to titles like Attack on Titan. He noted that this collaboration represents a significant move in GlobalComix’s expansion into manga, with more to come.

Key Kodansha Titles Now Available

The initial wave of manga includes many of Kodansha’s most celebrated series, providing readers with immediate access to a diverse range of genres. Notable titles added to the platform on August 21 include:

  • Attack on Titan
  • A Silent Voice
  • Blue Lock
  • Chihayafuru
  • Ghost in the Shell (including Stand Alone Complex and The Human Algorithm)
  • MF Ghost
  • Medalist
  • That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (and Trinity in Tempest)
  • Vinland Saga
  • Witch Hat Atelier and Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen
  • WIND BREAKER

Other titles from the initial launch include Battle Angel Alita (including Last Order and Mars Chronicle), Cardcaptor Sakura (Collector’s Edition & Clear Card), Cells at Work!, In the Clear Moonlit Dusk, Initial D, Nina the Starry Bride, PTSD Radio, Shangri-La Frontier, The Fable, and Tokyo Revengers.

Young Magazine Special English Issue Release

In addition to the extensive manga library, GlobalComix has released a special 1,044-page English issue of Young Magazine on Thursday, August 21. This commemorative issue celebrates the magazine’s 45th anniversary and features 19 new series from Japanese artists, as well as Kengo Hanazawa’s UNDER NINJA manga.

The special issue is available for free on the GlobalComix platform until the end of 2025. To mark the occasion, select Kodansha titles that run in Young Magazine are available at a discount on GlobalComix through September 1, including Boys Run the Riot, Dragon Head, and MF Ghost.

The special premium issue of Young Magazine is also being distributed for free to attendees at Anime NYC from August 21-24 and at specific Kinokuniya locations from August 21 to November 10. Readers also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite titles from this special issue by November 10, 2025, with the top five series guaranteed English serialization.

GlobalComix’s Growing Digital Presence

This partnership with Kodansha significantly bolsters GlobalComix’s position as a premier digital destination for manga and comics. The platform continues to expand its content, as evidenced by the recent launch of a new series, Apollyon, from HiHi Studios, a media company co-founded by game streamer and YouTuber Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter. A preview of Apollyon is available now, with the first chapter set to release on September 10.
