Acclaimed voice actor Bryce Papenbrook has officially joined the English dub cast for the second season of the popular anime series Dan Da Dan, taking on the role of Kinta Sakata. The announcement was made by GKIDS during an English dub panel for the anime at Anime NYC.

Papenbrook’s addition to the cast was accompanied by the release of a trailer featuring the character, providing fans with a first listen to his performance. Daichi Fujiwara voices Kinta Sakata in the original Japanese version of the anime.

“Dan Da Dan” Season 2: Continuing the Supernatural Saga

The second season of Dan Da Dan picked up directly from where the first season concluded in December 2024, continuing the wild adventures of its protagonists, Okarun and Momo. The series, known for its unique blend of supernatural elements, aliens, and humor, delves into the lives of high school girl Momo, who believes in ghosts but not aliens, and her classmate Okarun, who holds the opposite belief. Their contrasting convictions lead them to encounters with overwhelming paranormal activity, forcing them to confront both extraterrestrial beings and yōkai (Japanese spirits).

The anime’s second season premiered on television in Japan on July 3, airing on MBS and TBS within the “Super Animeism Turbo” programming block. For international audiences, the series is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu as it airs.

Key Details of the Second Season

  • Directors: Fūga Yamashiro and Abel Góngora, who served as storyboarder and unit director on the first season, are credited as directors for the new season at Science SARU.
  • Returning Cast: The new season features a returning voice cast for its main characters.
  • Opening Theme: Aina The End performs the opening theme song titled “Kakumei Dōchū” (On the Way).
  • Ending Theme: WurtS is responsible for the ending theme song, “Doukashiteru” (Something’s Wrong with Them).

Theatrical Premiere: “Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye”

Prior to its television broadcast, the first three episodes of Dan Da Dan Season 2 were compiled into a theatrical premiere titled Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye. This film screened in North America on June 6, in Asia outside of Japan on May 30, and in Europe on June 7. The North American screening was a significant event, showing in 1,085 theaters and earning an estimated US$3,096,000 in its opening weekend.

Bryce Papenbrook’s Extensive Voice Acting Career

Bryce Papenbrook is a highly recognizable figure in the English dubbing industry, known for his roles in numerous popular anime series and video games. He began his professional voice-over career at the age of eight, following in the footsteps of his father, Bob Papenbrook.

Some of his most iconic roles include:

  • Kirito in Sword Art Online
  • Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan
  • Inosuke Hashibira in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
  • Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist
  • Meliodas and Zeldris in The Seven Deadly Sins
  • Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir

His diverse range of characters spans various genres, making him a prominent and beloved voice in the anime community. His addition to Dan Da Dan Season 2 further bolsters the English dub cast for the highly anticipated supernatural comedy.
