Renowned Artists Contribute to “Let’s Play” Theme Songs

The musical landscape of the “Let’s Play” anime will feature contributions from acclaimed artists, enhancing the viewing experience with compelling opening and ending themes, as well as an in-game theme.

Opening and Ending Themes by Toshinobu Kubota

Singer-songwriter Toshinobu Kubota will perform both the opening and ending theme songs for the series. The opening theme is titled “1, 2, Play,” while the ending theme is “Left & Right.” This marks Kubota’s first involvement with an anime theme song in approximately 30 years.

In-Game Theme by DJ Night Tempo

Adding another layer of auditory immersion, Korean producer and DJ Night Tempo is responsible for the main theme of “Ruminate,” the in-universe video game developed by the protagonist, Sam Young. A re-edited version of Mariya Takeuchi’s “Plastic Love” will also be featured as a main theme for “RUMINATE.”

About the “Let’s Play” Anime

The “Let’s Play” anime is based on Leeanne M. Krecic’s popular romantic comedy webcomic, which garnered over 700 million views and seven million global subscribers during its run on WEBTOON. The story follows Samara “Sam” Young, an aspiring game developer in Los Angeles whose dreams are challenged when a popular streamer gives her first video game, “Ruminate,” a scathing review. Complicating matters further, Sam discovers that this troublesome critic is now her new neighbor, leading to a comedic, romantic, and often relatable story about gaming, memes, and social anxiety.

The anime is being produced by studio OLM, known for its work on “Pokémon” and “The Apothecary Diaries.” Daiki Tomiyasu (“Pokémon Sun & Moon”) is directing the series, with Aya Matsui (“Marmalade Boy”) handling the series composition. Character designs are handled by Saki Ebisawa, based on Ebimo’s original designs. Conisch (“Recovery of an MMO Junkie”) is composing the music.
