Fans of the action-comedy anime Sakamoto Days can now dive into Episode 18, which officially premiered on August 25, 2025. The latest installment continues the thrilling narrative of former legendary hitman Taro Sakamoto as he strives to balance his peaceful family life with the dangers of his past.

When and Where to Watch Sakamoto Days Episode 18

Sakamoto Days Episode 18 was released on August 25, 2025. Viewers in the US and UK can stream the episode on Netflix, with expected release times around 8:30 AM Eastern/11:30 AM Pacific/4:30 PM BST. The anime generally releases globally shortly after its Japanese broadcast, with Netflix often synchronizing the release.

What Happened in the Latest Episode?

In “Have a Nice Flight,” the episode preceding Episode 18, the story saw Sakamoto and Shin embarking on a journey to take the JCC transfer exam, guided by Hyo. Their objective was to find clues within the JCC data bank, following their confrontation with Takamura and the subsequent withdrawal of his crew. Crucially, Sakamoto also discovered that X, a key antagonist, is his old JCC classmate, Uzuki. Episode 18 is expected to pick up directly from these events, continuing the high-stakes narrative as Sakamoto delves deeper into his past and confronts new threats.

According to early reviews, Episode 18 features Shin defeating an “edgelord kid” and deciding to spare him, leading to the kid following Shin around. Meanwhile, Sakamoto continues to assist a blue-haired girl named Akira, showing his paternal side as he helps her navigate a dangerous environment. The episode also introduces a new “wild card” character, drawing comparisons to impactful characters in other shonen series.

The Sakamoto Days Anime Adaptation

The anime adaptation of Yuto Suzuki’s popular manga series Sakamoto Days officially began its run on January 11, 2025. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the series is directed by Masaki Watanabe, with Taku Kishimoto handling series composition and Yo Moriyama designing the characters. The first season is planned to span two “cours,” with each cour likely consisting of 11 episodes, bringing the total to 22 episodes for 2025.

The first cour aired from January 11 to March 22, 2025, and the second cour premiered on July 15, 2025. Netflix holds the worldwide streaming license for the series, releasing episodes simultaneously with their televised broadcast in Japan.

About the Sakamoto Days Story

Sakamoto Days centers on Taro Sakamoto, who was once the underworld’s most formidable hitman, feared by villains and admired by fellow assassins. However, after falling in love with a convenience store clerk named Aoi, he chose to retire, marry, and raise a family. Now, years later, he runs a neighborhood convenience store. Despite his seemingly ordinary, overweight appearance, Sakamoto retains his incredible assassin skills, which he must frequently employ to protect his family and his peaceful life from those who emerge from his violent past. The series blends action, comedy, and shonen elements, offering a unique take on the retired assassin trope.

Where to Read the Manga

For those who want to catch up on the source material or read beyond the current anime episodes, the Sakamoto Days manga, created by Yuto Suzuki, has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since November 2020. As of August 2024, there are 18 tankōbon volumes released in Japan, with 11 translated into English. Readers can access the latest chapters officially through Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus online platform. Both platforms offer the latest chapters, with Manga Plus providing simultaneous releases with Japan.
