The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Nanateru’s comedy manga, Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!, is set to debut on October 5, 2025. The announcement came alongside the release of the main promotional video, which revealed additional cast members, staff details, and the opening theme song.

Premiere Date and Opening Theme Revealed

Fans eager to see the heartwarming story of Alma-chan unfold can mark their calendars for October 5, 2025. The main promotional video not only confirmed the fall premiere but also offered a preview of the anime’s opening theme song, “Dramatic Overlay,” performed by ZAQ.

Expanding the Cast of “Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!”

The main trailer introduced two new additions to the voice cast, with Rika Nagae and Hinaki Yano joining the production. They will be complementing the previously announced main cast members who bring the central characters to life. Hika Tsukishiro stars as the titular Alma, a powerful weapon in the form of a girl. Ryota Suzuki voices Enji Kamisato, one of the genius scientists who created Alma, while MAO takes on the role of Suzume Yobane, the other brilliant scientist and co-creator.

Key Staff Members Guiding the Adaptation

The production of Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family! is handled by Studio Flad. Spearheading the series is director Yasuhiro Minami, known for his work as an episode director on various Gintama anime. Overseeing the series scripts is Yukie Sugawara, who has contributed to titles such as The Vampire Dies in No Time and Overlord. Character designs are being handled by Mika Yamamoto, recognized for her work on Fire Force and ClassicaLoid.

The Story of Alma-chan: A Weapon’s Wish for Family

The anime is based on Nanateru’s popular comedy manga, which began serialization on Kadokawa Shoten’s Comic Newtype website in July 2021. The story centers on Alma, a highly advanced, girl-type weapon. Despite her origins, Alma develops a profound desire to be part of a loving family with her two creators, the genius scientists Enji Kamisato and Suzume Yobane. The narrative explores their evolving relationships as Alma’s innocent wish begins to bridge the emotional distance between her two “parents.” A sequel manga, Alma-chan wa Kazoku ni Naritai Z, also by Nanateru, began serialization in July 2024. Crunchyroll is set to stream the series.
