The upcoming original anime series, Dusk Beyond the End of the World (永久のユウグレ, Towa no Yūgure), has announced the addition of four new voice cast members ahead of its anticipated premiere. Miyuki Sawashiro, Tomori Kusunoki, Toshiyuki Morikawa, and Yōhei Azakami will be joining the sci-fi romance narrative from P.A. Works. The series is set to begin its broadcast with an “Episode 0” on September 25, 2025, in Japan, with the first full episode following on October 2.

New Voices Join the Post-Apocalyptic Saga

The latest cast additions bring significant talent to the P.A. Works 25th-anniversary project. Miyuki Sawashiro, known for her versatile roles, will voice Yoiyami, an android serving as a commander in the OWEL special forces, who bears a resemblance to the character Yūgure. Tomori Kusunoki has been cast as Hakubo, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Oboro, and Yōhei Azakami as Yokurata. These new characters will further enrich the complex world and narrative of Dusk Beyond the End of the World.

Unveiling the Central Cast and Creative Team

The newly announced cast members join previously revealed lead voice actors who will bring the series’ core characters to life. Shūichirō Umeda stars as Akira Himegami, the protagonist who awakens two centuries in a transformed world. Yui Ishikawa voices Yūgure, the enigmatic android who proposes marriage to Akira. Ai Kayano portrays Towasa Ōmaki, Akira’s original love interest, whose fate remains a central mystery. Additionally, Miyu Tomita plays Amoru, a young girl on a quest for a banned picture book.

The anime is being produced by P.A. Works, a studio celebrated for its compelling original productions. Naokatsu Tsuda is helming the project as both director and series composer. The original character designs are credited to Midori Tayama, with Yoshiko Saitō adapting them for animation. Masahiro Tokuda is composing the musical score for the series. The opening theme song, “Platform,” is performed by Uru.

A Tale of Love and Survival in a Changed World

Dusk Beyond the End of the World delves into a future drastically altered by conflict and technological advancement. The story centers on Akira Himegami, who, after a period of cold sleep, wakes up 200 years later to a world reshaped by war and now governed by a new organization known as OWEL. In this new era, traditional marriage has been replaced by a system called “Elsie” (or “LC”).

Akira’s journey begins when he encounters Yūgure, an android strikingly similar to his beloved Towasa. Yūgure’s unexpected marriage proposal sets Akira on a quest to find the real Towasa, driven by the belief that she must still be alive somewhere in this new world. Yūgure joins him, adding layers of mystery and emotion to their adventure across desolate landscapes and through a society grappling with profound changes in gender, race, compliance, and evolving AI.

Broadcast and International Streaming Details

Dusk Beyond the End of the World is scheduled to premiere its “Episode 0” on September 25, 2025, followed by the first episode on October 2, broadcast on the Super Animeism Turbo block on JNN affiliates, including MBS and TBS. For international audiences, HIDIVE has licensed the series for streaming in North America and other key markets as it airs, ensuring fans globally can follow Akira’s poignant journey.
