Suiseisha announced Friday that Hirafumi (writer) and Yagi Shinba’s (illustrator) adult manga, Ichigo Aika: Zatsu de Namaiki na Imōto to Warikirenai Ani, will receive a TV anime adaptation on the AnimeFesta programming block in 2026. The series, also known by its English title Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy, will join AnimeFesta’s roster of often mature-themed short anime adaptations. Yagi Shinba also released a celebratory illustration for the announcement.
About “Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy”
The manga, Ichigo Aika: Zatsu de Namaiki na Imōto to Warikirenai Ani, translates to something like “Ichigo Aika: The Sloppy and Impertinent Younger Sister and the Older Brother Who Can’t Give Up.” It centers on the complicated relationship between step-siblings Kōta and Aika. When Kōta’s father remarries, he’s initially struck by his new step-sister Aika’s beauty, but this impression quickly shatters. Aika is depicted as a “super sassy and foul-mouthed gyaru” who becomes uncontrollable when their parents are away, making Kōta’s life a “living hell”. However, their dynamic begins to shift as Aika gradually softens towards Kōta’s caring older-brother nature.
The full-color manga is published digitally by CLLENN’s adult comic label DEDEDE on the Comic Cmoa service. Individual chapters launched in November 2022, and the manga’s first three compiled digital volumes were released on the day of the anime announcement.
AnimeFesta’s History of Adaptations
AnimeFesta, owned by WWWave Corporation, is known for producing short anime adaptations of manga, many of which are adult or risque in nature. A distinctive feature of AnimeFesta productions is the availability of two versions: a censored “broadcast” version aired on television, and a “premium” uncensored version distributed online. This format allows for broader reach while also providing explicit content to subscribers of the online platform.
The upcoming Ichigo Aika: Strawberry Elegy anime is expected to follow this dual-version model, offering both a broadcast-friendly and an uncensored streaming experience for viewers.
