Renowned voice actress Kana Hanazawa is joining the cast of the Gachiakuta anime, taking on the role of the new character Amo, set to debut in the upcoming Episode 10. The highly anticipated episode is scheduled to air in Japan on September 14, with the series currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
Kana Hanazawa Lends Voice to Mysterious New Character Amo
The official Gachiakuta anime X (formerly Twitter) account announced on September 9, 2025, that Kana Hanazawa will voice Amo. Amo is described as a young girl who lives alone in a tower located in the desert region known as No Man’s Land, Penta. Intriguingly, she wears shoes that bear the same distinctive logo as the gloves worn by the protagonist, Rudo. Hanazawa expressed her excitement for the role, stating that upon reading the manga, she was drawn to Amo’s “courageous journey through childhood and her indescribable loneliness,” despite acknowledging it would be a challenging character to portray.
Gachiakuta’s Dystopian World and Anime Production
The Gachiakuta anime, which premiered in July 2025, is an adaptation of Kei Urana’s dark fantasy action manga, featuring graffiti designs by Hideyoshi Andou. The story is set in a dystopian world where the wealthy reside in a floating city called “The Sphere,” discarding their waste—and perceived criminals—into a vast abyss known as “The Pit.”
The narrative follows Rudo, a young boy from the slums falsely accused of murder and subsequently exiled to The Pit. There, he discovers a hellscape populated by mutated garbage beasts and learns to wield a unique power tied to “vital instruments” – cherished objects imbued with “Anima.” To survive and seek vengeance, Rudo joins a group called the “Cleaners” who battle these monstrous creations.
The anime adaptation is produced by Studio Bones, known for its work on series like Mob Psycho 100. Fumihiko Suganuma directs the series, with Hiroshi Seko (known for Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga scripts) handling series composition, and Taku Iwasaki composing the music.
