Kōji Seo’s popular romantic comedy manga series, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses (Megami no Cafe Terrace), is set to conclude its serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine with eight remaining chapters, including the most recent release. The announcement was made alongside Chapter 210, published on September 10, 2025.
A Farewell to Cafe Familia
The impending end marks the culmination of a four-and-a-half-year run for the manga, which began serialization on February 17, 2021. Fans have followed the story of Hayato Kasukabe and the five women who inhabit his late grandmother’s struggling seaside café, Cafe Terrace Familia, since its debut.
The Story So Far
The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses centers on Hayato Kasukabe, an orphan who, after passing his University of Tokyo exams, returns to his hometown of Miura, Kanagawa, with the intention of closing his grandmother’s cafe. However, he soon discovers five young women living and working there, who consider themselves family to his grandmother. Their plea to keep the cafe open convinces Hayato to reconsider, leading him to manage the establishment while navigating life with these spirited women. The series is known for its blend of romantic comedy and harem elements.
Creator Kōji Seo’s Legacy
The manga is written and illustrated by Kōji Seo, a prolific mangaka known for his works that often mix sports with high school romance, such as Suzuka and Fuuka. His distinct storytelling style has garnered a dedicated fanbase over the years.
Anime Adaptation and International Release
The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses also received an anime television series adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions. The first season aired from April to June 2023, with a second season following from July to September 2024. Crunchyroll has streamed both seasons, making the series accessible to a global audience. Kodansha USA Publishing has licensed the manga for English digital release, further expanding its reach to international readers. As of July 2025, the manga had been compiled into 20 tankōbon volumes.
